Potholes.

*Attention Cyclists*

That one by the lights at Tesco - heading towards the Grapes from the Railway, you'll know the one if you've been that way - is back, just at the right position for your front wheel to get proper mangled.

Approach with extreme caution.
That's one of two sections of road in Stafford I would never consider cycling on ever again. Narrow lanes, potholes, traffic jams, ill temper and flooding are not conducive to a cyclist living a long life.

It's about time the one just after the islands at the top of Radford Bank was filled. It started off pretty small but now it is wider than the track of my car.

Some monsters on Corporation Street now.

Best to leave a good observational space after the car in front...

............to avoid the bits falling off their car as a result of them hitting a pothole?
To avoid the potholes - or to take a chance of driving over them, if sufficient parts are judged to have fallen into the holes to make driving over/through them a reasonable proposition.

They modified the nearside one by squirting all the oil out. I decided that they work better with some internal resistance, though, so I got two new ones.

10½ years.
They don't really owe you anything after 10 years though I wouldn't have thought. What condition are the springs in?

True, but it would have been nice for them to continue as they have been.

Everything else seems OK. Really just the loss of oil from the one...

I had to replace both front springs on my last car due to them breaking at the top mount. It was when I was driving down Corporation Street on a very regular basis. I wonder if that is a co-incidence?

The road through Salt has some "beauties" - this is about 18" square - imagine hitting that on a wet night on a motorbike, when it's full of water and looks like an innocent puddle. The white paint won't help much - perhaps, if they replaced the bloke with the white paint by a bloke with a bucket of tarmac, it might just help?

Even in today's rather excellent lighting conditions, it wasn't obvious enough to the chap with the Audi who hit it thirty seconds after I took this picture...

I drove down Corporation Street for the first time in ages yesterday ...bad decision! Used to be able to position the car just right over the speed bumps to avoid such a big ' bump' .
But now with potholes added to the bumps , I was getting rather worried with the massive thuds as I crept over them.

Must be two years or more since I drove down there. I value my tyres and suspension too much. And my blood pressure because if ever there was a road of ill-tempered misery among motorists that is it.

I'd just dropped hubby off at work before picking him back up at lunchtime to shoot off on holiday. Had visions of ringing him to say we hadn't got a car to go in as the bottom had been knocked through!
Already had:blah: when I didn't avoid an unavoidable hole right across the road by the uni, so I didn't admit mistakingly doing the Corpo route..

Not sure it can be classed as a pothole as it's two-thirds the width of the lane, but there's one on the Weston Road by the University (or whatever) just as you're approaching the pelican crossing, going into town. Unlike most potholes, this one's too wide to be avoided.

That one counts as a meteor crater, I think you'll find.

That's the one I couldn't avoid whilst driving hubby to work, and caused the :blah:
