Town centres are dying ? Or full of people dying?

The Crown and The Monarch are quite seperate tings

The Crown has never been the King or Queen of England since the establishment of the corporate body, but the British Monarchy is a figurehead for The Crown, rules parliament in Great Britain and has authority over the Prime Ministers through a Vatican knighthood called the Order of the Garter. The Crown, however, is not the King or Queen of England – they are an established monarchy of the corporate body.
When a sentence is constructed upon the lines of "the x has never been y since z" one should automatically have one's guard up.

The Order of the Garter was instituted by Edward III, and had more to do with the confidence of a Monarch who had proved himself in battle. I'd be interested to see what source you might cite that could possibly link it to being a 'Vatican knighthood' - at its institution it was very much an 'internal' affair.
This City, located in the heart of Greater London, became a sovereign-state in 1694 when King William III of Orange privatised the Bank of England, and turned it over to the Vatican
There's the Vatican again. I'd be even more interested to see the source for this one. King Billy?

No Surrender Billy Boy,no feckin' surrender!

"War is not meant to be won, it is meant to be continuous. Hierarchical society is only possible on the basis of poverty and ignorance. This new version is the past and no different past can ever have existed. In principle the war effort is always planned to keep society on the brink of starvation. The war is waged by the ruling group against its own subjects and its object is not the victory over either Eurasia or East Asia, but to keep the very structure of society intact."

I hear the Post House is being reopened

Apparently you'll be able to buy stamps in one bit and look at postcards of career opportunities in another bit

This is just what the town needs

All we need now is a match seller outside the Picture House and a man on a bicycle selling newspapers in the Market Square

Bring it on I say

How do I edit this?

Indeed, it is quite important to understand the difference:

The Monarch is the ruling head of state chosen by a process of heredity. The Crown is the top bit of a turkey.

TRIPADVISOR REVIEW

No more lewis partnership
, have eaten here many times over the past few years and it's always been a good standard, was in for a drink last week to be told by staff that it has been sold to a new company!! Such a Shame to see the Lewis partnership leave the town no bear? No swan? What next?

To be honest The Swan`s standards have slipped for a good while. Inside looks tatty.

The dog and doublet seem rudderless / clueless and the food served as part of a work day time function a couple of months ago at the moat house was below par.

Loads of staff turnover and internal wrangles over the last couple of years (at the d&d at least).

Either loosing their touch or eye taken off the ball

Thanks Gareth for the feedback all duly noted!

Just to balance the negativity a bit - four family members stayed there recently and all liked their rooms (my mum would like to know what mattresses you use @ChrisLewis ?!) and we joined them for breakfast two days which was excellent and Amberle (I think it was?) who has on serving duty both mornings was a sweetheart. We had a meal there also and the food was very good - excellent veggie and vegan options - but service very poor (no wine order arrived until almost finished main course - in fairness the manager gave us a second bottle free as an apology - and staff very thin on the ground). Bar service painfully slow but think new staff were being trained and the cocktails took a bit of prep.
