Today I realised that at some point I’d knocked my indicator stalk back, and my high beams had been on ever since. Unfortuntaly I also realised my high beams icon was hidden by my steering wheel.

So I guess I’m the example of poor driving today.

My high beam indicator light is visible through the wheel, but it is also next to the blue 'engine cold' light, so I've done it for a mile or so a couple of times, until it becomes obvious that the blue light is still on...

Unfortunately I cannot use that excuse on the account of my car not having an engine.

Full marks to the Stan Robinson driver who was too close to the back of my car to actually spot the left indicator, thus having to swerve into the middle of the road to avoid the fact that I had stopped, due to the entrance being 'blind'. He seems to have exhausted his hand/eye/foot/brain coordination capacity by concentrating on the horn rather than the clutch/gearstick, thus stalling the poor thing in the middle of the road, blocking it both ways for most of a minute, when attempts to restart it were finally successful.
Repeat of this today, although not a Stan Robinson truck this time - couldn't actually see whose it was.

I was all for declaring an end to my policy of making fair allowances for HGVs. However, as I was turning left out of Whitgreave Lane onto the A34, the tanker approaching from my right indicated right and pulled into the outside lane, to allow me out - a manoeuvre that one rarely sees these days...

I wonder if the impending driverless trucks will have the same sort of attitude spectrum?

This behaviour used to be part of a skill set that included flashing overtaking vehicles back into your lane once safely past. I still do this for trucks, occasional, but wonder if the driver just thinks I am Pixxed off with their driving. :hmm:

Some of them are still 'real' drivers, but it can be hard to tell beforehand. In general, drivers of tankers and other less 'general' vehicles do seem to have higher standards than the "bloke who's just been on a course"..

Just followed a very new and shiny black Audi A7 saloon driven by a black man with the personalised number plate something like 'LIINK T', not only stop in the yellow hashed box by the bus stops on Queensway, but also drive up the Eccleshall Road like it was a race track, I was doing 30 and he took hundreds of meters out of me between Macdonalds roundabout and Izaak Walton Street, was way up near Holmcroft Road when I was just going over the bridge having cut me up at the roundabout he was that close to me (and in the wrong lane to turn left!!). Had his kid in the car as well, Deserves to lose his licence for endangering everyone else in his path and having no idea how to drive if anyone else is on the road!

i went to Wynnstay this morning, where a chap was just finishing loading a Land Rover and a three-axle Ifor Williams trailer - not the easiest thing to manoeuvre in such a tight car-park, but it was empty, apart from us two, and so I parked in the far corner, well out of his way.

Before I had got out of the car, two International Grand Masters of Stafford's premier sport of Car Park Chess had managed to checkmate him - no mean feat on such an open board.

Was driving past the prison approaching the roundabout today, there was two cars in front of me passing then I almost got hit by a white 4x4, who then shouts out her window, sorry I didn't see the light. Even if she didn't see the light surely she saw the two cars in front of me passing. She was going at some speed

One has to suspect that she will never see the light...

Does poor car design count?

I was just behind someone who had the thinnest indicators known to man. They can’t hahe been more than 2cm tall so unless you’re looking directly at the indicators you have no idea when that person intends on turning off.

Of course, top points goes to the guy tailing me at 1 car’s length away in wet conditions in a 60, and the guy in some sort of VW jeep/pickup truck thing who couldn’t wait to speed off at 60 in a 40.

I'm still for arguing that anyone who doesn't feel safe to drive faster than 40 mph on the A518 between Stafford and Newport in broad daylight on a dry road should have their licence rescinded. It's a 60mph road because in the main it's safe to travel at that speed. Unless you're stuck behind one of these tw*ts doing 35 to 40 all the way :( :( Infuriating.

All the idiots who turn in to and out of The Range car park without stopping to see if anything is coming from the direction of the 7 units and offices.
