Highways England are holding a public meeting on the 19th of July 6pm at Blessed Bills - they are doing a presentation followed by a q&a session - l would encourage people to turn up and express their concerns about the contempt Highways England have shown to the people of Stafford.

The letter talks about Bridge demolitions in September- at the previous meeting I was told these bridge collapses were to happen in July, so they are already running considerably behind their own schedules in the early stages of the ‘4 year project’ and as the letter states they still haven’t a date in September to carry out these works.

I was also told there was money made available for road surfaces to be improved through the diversion routes, it is self evident the road surface has not been improved - but in fact further deteriorated during the current diversions.

The letter is a public letter, but I have been made aware that it has a limited distribution so please feel free to share.

From what I can make out, and I may be wrong, the official diversion from the bridge demolitions is via j12, A5, A38, A50, J15.

It's pretty obvious that if that's the case most people will ignore that and drive through Stafford and the A34...

I agree, and have argued that it is a posterior covering excercise to negate them of responsibility to the town residents and have been met by condescending responses.

Got to laugh at the investors in people logo !

I hadn't looked at the logos until you pointed it out.

I would also expect that an organisation such as the Highways England to be Disability Confident Leader not just at the Committed level!! Bit worrying if they are only at the first level.

Oh, be fair. You are a priority stakeholder, after all.
Unfortunately not! Whinging whining (not supposed to get above themselves, voice opinion & ask for reasonable treatment) resident me ! pitchfork rather than stake category. Although I’d quite happily be a steak holder I like medium rare !

‘Smart’ is a bit of an abused term nowadays, in fact in this context could ‘smart’ be a euphemism for ‘dumb’ ?

There are a lot of words like that - smart, intuitive, user-friendly, organic, interactive, intelligent, etc., that usually indicate that you are about to be confronted by over-hyped, slap-dash, careless indifference.

Or in this case much cheaper than Managed Motorways so they have some chance of getting near the government targets for motorway "inprovements" without so much overspend on budget.

They the National Highways sounded as fed up and frustrated with the county council as us residents !

There was one borough councillor and no county councillors - and no representatives from the council Highways which I thought was extremely appalling ! They were apparently invited which shows you how much of a stuff they all give about us.

Everyone’s issues appeared to be about the state of the roads on the diversion routes and the impact of both speeding and idling of heavy vehicles - which were all issues raised before the project started.

There was an interesting point about what to do if you think your property is being damaged by the traffic impact. So I strongly suggest you contact them sooner rather later if this is the case.

How often there will be complete closures and the reasons why.

How they are completely aware how poor the condition Staffords roads are in but they are not allowed to give the council any money to sort it out.

They have capacity to offer to help with a community project or charity in the areas that are being disrupted, and welcome sensible ideas.

The footbridge will be replaced.

They are keen to engage with community and are aware that there communications were somewhat wanting at the being - this is true as I can vouch that communications are being received about motorway closures, there is to be closures this weekend.

They will be holding further meetings.

My interactions with local Highways people over things they acknowledge to be wrong would suggest that their lack of attendance won't actually have any additional detrimental effect
