Not much today, but got a few bags of crisps and a hoover for the shed which
the missus promptly swapped for her henry as mine was newer and lighter!

We came away with almost thirty quidsworth of bedding plants. I suspect Mrs Mikinton would have bought them a fortnight ago had we not been going away for a week and so unable to water them.

Used on a job yesterday, that would have been doable with a mains one, but awkward.

No bicycles were involved.

A handy feature, probably not intentional, is the fact that you can put it down immediately, standing on the battery end, as it spins down, rather than waiting for it to stop, as is often necessary with a corded one, to avoid damaged a surface. As my 'workbench' was a glass-topped patio table, this was fairly important..

I bought a pack of disks , nothing on them or the pack as to what they were, as I am taking all my films of the hard drive, 50 for £3, just on the chance they may be DVD's and OK, bloody perfect now I am sorry I didn't buy more, oh and another tin of paint for 50p now they wife can worry over whether the front door will be red or green.

A couple of weeks ago, I had an interesting conversation with a trader at Uttoxeter, who I hadn't seen for a while - "I stopped going to Stafford. People are too tight to spend anything and I had too much stuff nicked".

Good day for me, got a gallon tin of waxoyl £3, some luggage scales £1, (handy for weighing fruit for wine making) a new telephone £1.50, (the last one was buzzing since I dropped it ) and spent a fiver on absolutely loads of cheap crisps nom nom.

Not a bad day for me, I got a off camera flash lead for my canon, 50p, a bottle jack for £3, some gardening/welding gloves for the missus, (I may get her welding the van yet

), and a titan hoover for the shed (1000 watt), there won't be many of them available once the new reg's bite, and I did 7765 steps toward my exercise routine :dance:

Big, but largely tat - I got a nice small side-handle for angle grinders, etc - it might come in handy in restricted areas.

I picked up this late model Grundfos central heating pump with valves attached for £1 (think they’re around £100 now). I stripped it down and it looks as though it hasn’t had much use - impeller was perfect and it runs smooth and silent. Actually these tend to come up quite often now as people install combi boilers - I'm still a 'gravity fed' fan and I have 4 s/h pumps already - but not as pristine as this one ! (I know what you're thinking, I should "get out more" well, going to car boot sales is getting out more - and look what happens !)

I have had a spare one for a few years. I need to replace mine, but it's under the 'dining room' floor. There is a hatch for access, but it means emptying the room of furniture, etc. and then getting the carpet up, just to lift the hatch. I may cut a flap in the carpet, if I ever do get around to it - but, I have to find the hatch first...

There's an old saying "Fix the roof whilst the sun is shining" - perhaps that could also be extended to underfloor pumps ! (will be a worse job if it fails in winter). Could the pump be located with a stethoscope whilst running ?
