That would answer why the white pebble-dashed houses starting on Salt Road are numbered as 1A, 1B, 1C & 1D and then the following houses (flats) heading towards the railway line / Shrewsbury Road begin from 1 onwards because they would have been built before.1921 map shows 16 houses on one side onlyView attachment 5841
No the map shows odd numbers built first 1904 as manager's house for siemens, the even side of road built in the 1930'sOr it's just a very odd street

LB is letter boxThis just brilliant research! I wonder if this couple were the first occupiers of the house?
Thank you everyone on your superb local knowlede of "the colony", Number 18 is the property in question as it is now Sold STC and from looking att he map from @industryarch it sits on the section labelled L.B. - Not sure what this means?
From looking at the rear of the houses along this stretch, they all seem to have a roof repair in the exact same spot. Just above the 3rd bedroom window. Plans are already afoot to update and make improvements to the house too.

There are some copies around - I've had that since 1994.I remember seeing this very photograph in the Shrewsbury Arms when Deb was running the gaff....I did wonder where it ended up?
