Stafford Gateway Masterplan.

It really depends on what you are doing in those 25 minutes
I can get extremely exited about 25 mins gymnastique dans la chambre; though to be honest,
'Au mieux dix minutes', is more likely to be par for the course!!!!!

I read some of the paper presented to committee last night which was suggesting preferred option is to given "Northern Quarter" over to residential if gateway masterplan is approved
Always been the plan, I believe!

The previous two posts explain very neatly why it is always preferable to <quote> < /quote> the person to whom you are responding.

We call it the Charity Quarter, doesn't have quite the same pull as B'hams jewelry quarter admittedly!

Its sad to see so much negativity on this thread, a fair bit of it based on ill informed assumptions. Having walked the site at the weekend its clear to see the potential of the development and need for regeneration. Provided the development is as sensitive to the environment as it realistically can be and transport infrastructure (road access) is properly considered then it will be great news for the town and many struggling businesses. Yes the rugby pitches and bowling club are likely to be displaced but I'm not seeing the rolling greenbelt that's going to disappear myself. Some folks my really love the Shoe Shed!

According to Google Maps that lake is already there

Check out the proposed developments map in my signature - I found a plan and added it to it.

Indeed, the pond has been there for many years. Its a nice spot, saw various breeds of ducks and a heron on it at the weekend so hopefully our bird friends will be looked after. Sadly there was a dealer selling to Castlefields kids on the path next to it also, hopefully they won't!

I’m very much down for new builds. I like Riverside. Whether I have faith in the people running the project however...

On that note about the Shoe Shed actually - anyone know what’s going to happen to the business “park” along Newport Road? The one with the vet, gym, etc on.

I'd say it's unlikely they can get rid of that tbh, I'm sure they'll just incorporate it into the plans, well maybe not the shoe shed, but the area with the gym / vets on etc. It would be a planning nightmare to get rid of it tbh.
