The old Jobcentre.

It's the old council groundworks unit etc behind the jobcentre. Going to be about 12 small (1000sqft ) industrial units. Apparently the old jobcentre building isn't affected.

Does anyone know who is going to be building these units, once the demolition has finished?

That whole block should be demolished while they are building the new units imo.

Why stop there?

Castletown looks a bit ropey, Pennycroft a bit drab, Rangers ground would make a lovely car showroom, Top of the World has seen better days.

Because they are being used legitimately for more than window smashing practice. No one will ever use this building at the cost of renovating it before rent and rate costs are added and it has zero architectural merit. Castletown is cool....

The accommodation has suspended ceilings with recessed and surface mounted Category 2 lighting, is carpeted and is heated throughout by a gas-fired system with some air-conditioning in place.

Previously occupied by the Department of Works and Pensions and HMRC, the availability of the property offers an ideal opportunity for a company with a headquarters requirement to acquire premises in a highly prominent fringe of town centre position.

Sounds lovely.... where do I sign?

It'll certainly be prominent when it's engulfed by flames.

Hasn’t most of those ceilings now been pulled down though ? Tbh , it’s value decreases every day it’s left empty, plus winter is round the corner and with the majority of the windows put through, the place is going to start getting very damp inside too. The remedial works now to be done to get it up to spec are probably already in the tens of thousands. No ones going to take it on, we can’t even shift empty brand new buildings.

I fully expect to walk past it one day and see it engulfed in flames.
