Well, we attended last night, probably about half seven or eightish, the place was running at about 35-40% diner capacity - not bad for a Tuesday, I thought.

I had the Chicken Fricassee, @The Stafford Beast had the Fish & Chips.

The food took fifteen or twenty minutes to arrive - which I felt was a good sign.

Both meals were excellent - I will make an attempt at the F&C in the near future myself..

We both had pints of Guinness - nicely done, with a sensible head and all of it inside the glass - a welcome feature these days.

It's about to become my Favourite Place in The Town, I think.

Work colleague was in at the weekend, reports back fillet steak exceptional, sirloin less so. But would definitely return.

A further reconnaissance tonight with @Thehooperman , @tek-monkey and an innocent(?) bystander.

They had steaky stuff and I had the plaice, as the basic fish'n'chips was all gone.

All very nice.

I interrogated a nearby group, who also all seemed happy with their fare - they also reported that the ladies' facilities were vastly improved on the previous arrangements, thus negating me having to (carefully) check them for myself.

A good night!

Took advantage of the discount last night and paid a visit. I had the haggis and black pudding stack which was exceptional, my wife had a very good prawn starter. Additionally I had the sirloin which was cooked perfectly and my wife had the pork dish belly belly. Both were very large and cooked very well indeed.
Service was great and we would definitely return, restaurant was full and the bar was busy.
I would say, the chips, they were just normal chips, for some reason I was expected either seasoned or skin on. A minor point, not a minor point, all food was served on plates.

Been twice now, first time I ordered the same as you and second time had the belly belly. Can't really fault the place.

Enjoying a drop of red.
Thanks entirely to the reviews on here we are trying this place out tonight. What's the parking like?
