Bins!

A very odd scenario going on down the other side of the road just now.

Blue bin lorry with just a driver and a single operative emptying about every second blue bin, after just glancing in the others. Driver jumping out to help when a few bins have been collected for emptying - all looking to be done in a bit of a rush. Possibly the first run past was done a bit early and a lot of bins weren't out? Who knows...

Our side not done at all yet.

The bin police were out in force the other day , and slapped enforcement notices on all the bins which had been left out on the pavement after collection days .

They need come round this neck of the woods, loads along our stretch of the Doxey Road, and you can hardly walk up Castle Street for the things.

They need to do it to one of my neighbours who still hasn’t got her head round the fact that our bin day has changed and leaves the bin out for nearly a fortnight waiting for them to empty it.

Veolia didn't empty my caddy yesterday as I had left it on top of the bin but had not put all the paper in it into a plastic bag so it didn't get wet. They left a card telling me that I was a very naughty boy for not doing so.

But to do this, the chap must have had to go back to the wagon, get a card, fill it in and take a photo of the 'offending' caddy (yes it says he took a photo). Surely this must take more time than actually emptying the caddy into the wagon. And why would they want me to put recyclable paper into a non-recyclable plastic bag for them only to chuck the whole lot into the wagon?

Obviously, you need to seal all the anti-suffocation holes in the bag and then run a heat-sealer over the opening, unless you have as much faith in plastic bags as they do.

I have a heat-sealer, if you need to borrow if for next time.

Was the paper actually wet as a result of your negligence?

Do they recycle the paper without wetting it?

Was the card in a plastic bag? Tell them that you couldn't read it, because it was too wet.

Move over the border into South Staffs, they moan at you if you put paper or any other recycling in plastic bags.

Down our road biffa would get my bin from the front yard and empty it when I forgot to put it on the pavement. Veolia don't. Biffa used to put the bins back near our houses. Veolia abandon them wherever they fancy :(
