Holidays 2019

We’re just got back from a lovely holiday.
We flew to Miami just after Christmas and had New Years Eve in Miami.
Then we got on a Caribbean cruise.

We both love the sun, the sea and the sand, however we don’t like to just do “the beach”.
We love to explore. To walk around, to take a local bus or perhaps hire a car, but really see a place.
We like to mix with local people and interact.

This was Umbrella St, San Juan, Puerto Rico.

We hired a car in Antigua and went to one of our favourite places for lunch, a restaurant overlooking Nelson's Dockyard.

Found a fabulous bar in St Maarten, and YES I had a bikini.

This was the Umbrella Street when I went to see @Goldilox play in Enniscorthy in 2017.

Did you see the crazy airport at St Maarten?

Once spent an afternoon in St Maarten getting lashed on rum punch with a Meryl Streep lookalike.
Bar seats were suspended from a canopy like swings.
Carried on our party back on board with 'Mr and Mrs Streep' telling others we'd spent the afternoon in a swingers bar.
And yes, the airport is bonkers.

Only planned break is back to the Azores again in June/July, 2 weeks this time. Planning on doing a lot of the bits we missed last time, along with revisiting a few of the favourites from last visit. For such a small island we're already finding a lot to do, current planning board is here:

I would be so tempted to camp in the Monte Palace - and then write a scathing review on Trip Advisor.

Personally I'm thinking of a holiday in either Cleethorpes or Macclesfield. The trouble with Cornwall in the summer is it gets full of people from … well … Cleethorpes and Macclesfield and such :teef:, so I figure I'll head the other way. :buddy:.

Had a surprising amount of interest on flights I put on hotukdeals, so thought I'd repost here. Flights right into August (so including summer holidays) to the Azores for under £100 return each once you add the cabin bags and reserved seats.

I'll be there June/July but thought the August dates were a bargain considering the kids are off school.

Holiday 2 booked, I'm off to Malta for a few days.
I ran around most of the roads there doing the Malta marathon. Stayed in Sliema, but the coach took us to the start point miles away and thankfully the 26 miles ended right outside our hotel. Lovely taking in the lovely scenery for almost 3 and a half hours .

So far only got a week booked in a holiday house in Poole, Dorset in June . Stayed there a few years ago, nice pottering around our own little house inbetween exploring the area and pubs .

Got a feeling the weeks hubby has booked off work are going to be spent staying down in sons new house in Worcester and helping him to move the rest of his stuff out of his flat at the end of August. (Instead of my bikinis for the beach , I'll be packing rubber gloves and cleaning materials to get the flat spotless for the end of tenancy inspection )

Did you run down Triq Il Weid in Paola? You might have seen my bloodstains on the footpath, if they're still there.

Can't remember where we ran, can't remember jumping over any bloody patches though .
My memories are going to the little stone loos before the race dressed only in shorts and top , a little old lady followed me into the cubicle :ohanding me one square of tissue and expecting me to produce money from thin air to have wee . (And running a few miles chatting to a Sheffield lad who turned out to have a sister living in Wildwood.....)

Malta was one of the places I'd been looking at booking for September.
