Letting Agent Recommendations for Landlords

Hello

I have just bought a house in Stafford that I want to rent out. I want a letting agent to fully manage the property for me. Having read up about many letting agents in Stafford it seems impossible to choose between them. The best way to make sure of getting someone I can trust to do a good job is by getting a recommendation. So that is why I am here to ask if anyone has had any good or bad experiences with letting agents in Stafford. Thanks so much for your help :D

Avoid DBRoberts!!!!!

I have ranted many a time on the forum - they are money grabbing, lying, swindling, blackmailing douchbags!!

I shall say no more!

On a positive note - I have heard Clothier and Day and Little Mansions are very good!

Let us know how you get on!

Thank you both for the advice! Carole for that Castle were one of the ones I was looking at. Can I ask which ones you were having issues with?

We had previously used Nicholsons for a number of years and had been quite happy with them.

However we found out that work that they said had been done on the house (that we had paid for) hadnt actually been done.
The way that they dealt with it was appalling.

Avoid Castle Estates like the plague..they are ruthless towards tenants. They treated my friend very badly and charged him unreasonable fees and tried to keep deposit by fabricating damage..which was subsequently found not to be true.

I've used Martin and Co for my properties for a number of years now. I've been happy with the service that they have provided.

Prior to this I was with the 'corrupt' GDH. GDH have now gone into receivership.

I can only speak as I find but we’ve used various agents over the years and the one that we’re currently with, and very happy with (.... goes off to touch some wood) is Castle Estates.

If the tenant reports a problem, fence down or shower leaking or whatnot, they get on to it straight away and we’ve always been charged a fair price for the work done.

They inspect the property on a regular basis and give an in depth report as to how the tenant is looking after the property and taking photos where necessary.

Ideal for someone who is out of the country.

Enjoying a drop of red.
Another vote for Castle Estates here.

Although my experience of letting agents in general tells me that things can change very quickly, so always keep them on their toes.

I have relatives with Bridgefords. Personally after the treatment they've had, I'd avoid them like the plague.
I was there for the landlords inspection carried out a while back, the bloke that came round was so rude, I could've slapped him.
They now have a number for the workman their landlady deals with direct, so they can ring him anytime to get stuff sorted.

I've used Castle Estates as a tenant and they were brilliant, best agents I've ever used. Avoid Little Mansions, absolutely useless.

As someone with no real interest in this specifically, it's almost funny to see that every letting agent mentioned on this thread has both someone who rates their service and someone who is saying to avoid them like the plague. Good luck OP lol

Just for info

Butters John Bee - avoid
I'd avoid Butters John Bee in future as well. We had them round when selling my mums house. Kept pushing for auction and couldn't get a price off him for selling through the normal channels. When he rang back and I said I was selling through another agent he got quite nasty over the phone.

They must have had a 'mate' lined up to buy it at a knockdown price ;)
