I'm going to roll with this, because i'm one of the people who works weekends so that you can have them.
So Tuesday was my Saturday, in real terms, so have some of this -
All is lovely, sun is shining, i'll go for a bike ride methinks >
up to Walton > round the path between the playing fields > down the bridle path past the golf course to Brocton > down to the quarry and up Oldacre Valley to the Chase Road
Stop to take awful picture of unidentified butterfly for laters -
despite terrible quality, 100% confirmation as Green Hairstreak ...
> up to the top of Sherbrook Valley and round the horseshoe past the German War Cemetery > take pictures of the 'virtual' fencing (
ibid.)> up to Brindley Heath > go a bit further so i can do that bit of the Dog with the Evil Step on it so i can clear the Evil Step like i have failed to do all the times that i've tried to do it since it became the Evil Step rather than the Evil Root that preceded it that i could clear > fail once again to clear the Evil Step > just after encounter a dead Adder -
- which was most definitely and lamentably dead...
> onwards via Tackeroo, i veer left rather than taking the obvious line down the Dog, and jink about a bit to take me to the Shooting Butts > now's the sport > i know there are many lines that will take me from the top of the Butts side of Abraham's Valley down into it, but i don't know any of them and that's why i'm here - will this one be any good? > yes it will, technical and swoopy, tight through the trees, a slight OTB leaves me with a bleeding wound on my ankle but very minor > ok so back to Abraham's Valley, fire roads, and down to Seven Springs > turn to the track up to Stepping Stones > just as i crest the incline to level me out, see a man crouched over a prostrate geezer on the floor, obviously performing CPR over him, and rather glad to see me...
The day takes something of a turn...
So, now we're trying to keep this guy alive, taking turns to do the chest compressions that will do it > the chap who found him is already on the phone to Emergency who are audibly talking us through it > i've taken over the CPR to keep pumping the blood through the guy's body as the chap gives more info to Emergency > i tire from the exertion and feckin ^hero guy gets back in position > Emergency are still on the phone and talking us through it as we wait for an Ambulance > hero guy tires and i take over> one-two, one-two, feckin' Staying Alive, Staying Alive, go, go till it burns and "i'm almost done here, can you take over?"> joined by another who takes a turn in the rotation and a wonder woman who goes proper IC comms > the Air Ambulance circles overhead, obviously determining that they can't safely land > we keep rotation of CPR, pumping the guy's blood through his body until > finally the Ambulance crew arrive and take over...
F**king Hell
That was pretty feckin intense...
Take a step back. It's out of your hands...
It's a lovely day, blue sky and sunshine...
OK so our casualty is bagged up for breathing, first defib + adrenaline shot has done nothing, ten minutes pass > adrenaline shot + defib 2 brings a heartbeat, he's back in the room > stabilised and stretchered he's in the back of an Ambulance and moving onwards.
I left my number with one of the Police guys who was also attendant at the scene, and he called me this morning.
He dead.
