I saw that as well, absolutely amazing and really nice that they got the chance to do a jump again ( and under better conditions than all those years ago)

It was docked up n Poole harbour for a while the other day as well.

It did.
They were in Poole Harbour on Tues.

They’ve had a full day today.
Arriving at 5.30am at Le Havre and then disembarking immediately to board coaches for the drive to Bayeux.
Norman said it wasn’t worth going to bed to be up that early.

The timings were, of course, to replicate exactly what they did 75 years earlier.

Tomorrow (Friday) they will be disembarking Boudicca to visit Sword beach, Gold beach, Museum in Arromanches.

It’s all just incredibly moving.

Had never heard of the SBS , equivalent of the SAS , before until tonight in the pub, where there were supposedly some members of it.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special_Boat_Service

Brilliant night had , including some of these SBS guys , and been invited to have a pub lock-in, and move onto a nightclub with some of the locals (and also told that in pubs/restaurants to say that we have just moved down here and as locals pay 'local' prices... )

Unfortunately hubby had had enough so we made our way home.

Also got an invite to visit landlords of a pub in Ashford, Kent who we met and were down here having a rare 4 days off (although still checking in on their pub)

I speak to anybody me :D

Ten days in and I'm still finding things I forgot to connect to the new router Wifi. TomTom satnav in the car normally whinges at me once a week about minor updates, speed cameras and the like. Suddenly realised today it's silence is because it can't connect anymore. Just as well I remembered, new map, speed camera and advisory updates poured out of the ether.
There was a time when I could work three stations on a Morse key with a bit of jumping about between receivers and transmitters !! .. Now I'm having trouble remembering things that are all within 50 feet of each other …:?:

My meticulously planned route was slightly scuppered by signs anouncing the M4 junction I needed was closed for this weekend. Had to stop off and stuff my face with a maccies whilst writing a new route down off my phone on the back of the brown paper maccies bag (Hubby couldn't get my mobile data on  , and Tom Tom was going for the closed route! )

Stopped off on the way back for a couple of days in Worcester , can't see son much as he's working nights oer the weekend, but took him for a lunchtime meal (after I'd woken him trying to sneak quietly into his flat to put my left over holiday food in his fridge )

Just nipped over to Tesco facing our hotel for some squash, and made the cashiers day by handing him my hotel room card instead of the Tesco card . Think he thought his luck was in :heyhey:

Off out to hit the pubs :) :pint:

Ta :)

Got a good soaking several times today. Started off sunny then the heavens opened ....spent a good part of an hour sheltering under a tree (not a good idea to wear sandals instead of trainers!) which decided to start 'leaking' , but was the better option than the torrential rain belting down all around. Then another drenching doing a tottering dash in heels to a restaurant this evening to meet son.

Looking at the E&S Ironman report, looks like it was nice and sunny back home in Stafford

I'm on my way home tomorrow...expect the rain to follow me!

Found out at least I travel slightly lighter than someone..... (although they have travelled from the West indies ) If I could fit a bag that big into my car I probably would have a bag that big ! (I just have many smaller ones, I don't do 'travelling light'

Ate breakfast in the hotel with these ladies these last couple of days, The West Indies womens national cricket team.

Thought they didn't look too happy this morning... they lost .

Women? Cricket?
Blinkin' 'eck. They'll be playing football next.
I dont follow cricket , but always imagined cricketers to be of an athletic build . Some of these were massive and didn't look like they could break into a waddle to catch a ball. As they were wearing tracksuits with 'Sandals' all over them , I first assumed they were workers from the Sandals resort

The english male teams in the hotel all actually looked sporty types . (One was getting ribbed in the hotel bar by manager and team mates for not sticking to a decent diet in preparation for the next mornings game. Arrived back after several pints in town with a maccies . Then got a b0llocking from the barman for eating non-hotel food . I'd just been thinking of going over to tesco across the road from the hotel to get a pork pie to go with my lager, but decided against also getting told off  )

My friend is back from Normandy/D day remembrance trip and just phoned me.
He's popping round tomorrow to tell me all about it and show me all his photos.
I've watched loads of footage from last weeks tv so I'm really looking forward to hearing all about it first hand.

Might be an idea to get a few friends/little gathering. Make it into an informal meeting.

Getting rather p1ssed off when , being a loyal customer, every year renewals come through at a higher price than if I was taking the policy out as new.

I always get quotes on-line from the companys own websites before the renewal arrives, and ring to get the lower quote matched when the automatic renewal quote comes .

Yet again, Green Flag have sent their renewal through with 'as you haven't made any claims, next years price includes a no-claims discount ' price £62.72

New on-line quote on their website for exactly the same cover £48.16

Bloke matched the lower price straight away when I told him ,but shouldn't have to go through all that each year. Now knocked it off automatic renewal to save being quoted a higher price next year and having to hang on in a queue for 10 minutes to get the lower price that it should have been in the first place! I'll just let it run out and action the on-line quote instead.

As one operator quoted once when I queried why it's always higher "If people like you take the trouble to check the prices we honour the lower price, those who don't bother pay the higher price" :ohno:

It's the only way they can get more Customers in a competitive market. The FCA are doing quite a big study on this at the moment. It's one of the reasons they now have to print last year's price on the documents.
