The Smother Brothers start by sending up a Gilbert and Sullivan song, and this degenerates into an hilarious duel between guitar and piano. Funny and well played too ….

48,768 78rpm records digitised & free on-line (listen or download). From 1901 to 1966. Jazz, swing, blues, rock n roll, classical, shows, easy listening ... Louis Armstrong & Noel Coward rub shoulders with Jerry Lee Lewis & Gracie Fields. I even spotted a Linguaphone Short Irish Course, Lessons 1-4.

Not right now, but this evening I will be listening to the Manic Street Preachers at the O2 Academy in Birmingham.

Interesting support act as well, 'Gwenno', whose first album was in Welsh (with one track in Cornish) and second entirely in Cornish, including this:

Beautiful piece of music used by Ken Burns as the theme for his powerhouse documentary on the American Civil War.

ST16 Represent.
Off to see these guys on the 29th.

Punk rock covers band with some original stuff thrown in..

They never disappoint. Used to love them because of the sum of their parts Fat Mike particularly but then just enjoyed their covers. Goodbye Earl is a favourite.

Everything used to be better
When books were still made of paper
All nights used to be longer
And beer still contained alcohol
Everyone used to find a job
We still had real money
Banks weren’t yet broke
We used own the world…
Chorus:
Finally let go of yesterday
Drink to a better time!
Up the cups, let us celebrate
Yesterday died today
Nothing used to be better
If you think so – you’re an idiot.
Everything used to better
All women used to be beautiful
All men used to be tough
And p.o.r.n was still obscene
Days used to be longer
Summer was always hot
All skirts were shorter
And ice melted in your drink…
(Chorus)
Everything used to be better
Rock concerts used to be loud
Songs used to be bought
And music wasn’t yet stolen…
Everyone used to be nicer
Sometimes compliments from your boss
The pope used to be catholic
And in heaven there used to be dope…
