Stafford Cinema - ups & downs.

A lovely idea but somewhat fanciful.

Who will pay for this ?

There is the cost of buying the properties and land and demolition.

I couldn't see anyone doing that for no return.

It would only be a hang out for druggies, drunks and homeless so it isn't like anyone could enjoy a green space there.
We all need a bit of fanciful in our lives now and again.

The return would be enjoying the 'fanciful' and a bit of green and a few trees. I suspect worth far more in future times than a bundle of cash in a Cayman Island bank.

Jesus H!
You'd think these people you refer to aren't actually human beings. I think I was a kid, the last time I called any of those names...……….then I grew up!

Which is very much unlike him.

Perhaps Englishing well is a symptom of Garethian illness?

TBF I have been watching more than my fair share of House of late - Freeview 54 double bill 6-8 mon-fri

Seriously though, Gareth seems to be putting a bit more effort in of late, does he not?

It did have the air of a (damp) set for a spaghetti western.

They probably still speak of the four fez-men who appeared once and were never seen again.

I did get the impression that the cops weren't geared up for gang warfare.

Done a bit of digging and it appears that the website staffordcinema.co.uk was registered on 28 March 2018 by Savoy Systems Ltd , 25 Broad Street, Nottingham, NTT, NG1 3AP, United Kingdom

if you do a search on that business address, it in turn appears to be the old home of SCREEN 22, which was once the "world’s smallest cinema", Nottingham’s Screen 22 has been (since December 2017) turned into the home of cinema ticketing software company https://savoysystems.co.uk/ who now also hire out the tiny 22-seat cinema with state-of-the-art sound, Active 3D and ability to show films in letterbox format.

SAVOY appear to be a legit company who manage the ticketing systems (called OSCAR) for a load of reputable independent cinemas and arts centres across the UK

(story here https://www.nottinghampost.com/news/business/worlds-smallest-cinema-nottingham-taken-943407)

What I don't understand is how the rumoured new cinema owners Oswestry based AJH CINEMA LTD (which is new company set up in march 2018) fit into this story - although they may just have commissioned SAVOY to set this up for them, run the box office and website, etc
just to let you know that Savoy systems is used by us independent cinema people for site information, so AJH cinema used them whilst operating Stafford cinema, by the way im now negotiating to re open this cinema for live musice and classic films along with current releases hopefully end of 2019

As a traditional low priced cinema I think it does have a future as a Community cinema run as a family business, not everyone can afford these new Brass & Glass Cinema, yes they a beautiful modern and bright, but also on the expensive side, theres room for both
im adraid this cinema only has 300 seats in the biggest screen

I do wonder if there's a market for showing old classics on the big screen. Not just British, but from around the world. Some classic American and Japanese films from times gone by, which even the TV ignores. Probably for film buffs only, I don't know. I'm a film buff and I'd go to watch some, but basing a market on my tastes probably wouldn't make it to a business plan.
Regardless I wish you luck in your venture.:)
