How do I edit this?
Good afternoon all, recently moved into Stone, looking to make a new group of friends in Stone and Stafford. Don't drink or smoke. I enjoy country walks, world cinema, creative cooking as used to be a chef, regular self fitness, meditation, accoustic guitar/folk/ska/ music, open mic nights, exploring vegetarian and vegan cooking, alternative therapies and learn different types of holistic massage. just to name a few interests lol.

I'm free most evenings and Sundays, as work mornings and afternoons. anyone up for a social meet this week or weekend? get in touch :)

Cas

Stafford has a few open mic nights - Tuesday in Slater's, Thursday in the Market Vaults and Friday in the Bear & Pheasant (I think, though that may be every fortnight, and if you go on the 'wrong week', it's karaoke) - @Goldilox knows what's going on with more accuracy.

Hi @Cas84 - Gramiasc is right we have a few open mics. For my sins I seem to have been roped into running several of them.

There's a Wednesday one at The Dog House run by Sandy Stanton, as well as the ones Gramiasc mentioned.

The Bear and Pheasant has been every week since before Christmas - I run it alternate weeks with Ben & Alex in charge on the weeks I'm not there, as well as doing Slater's Every Tuesday & The Market Vaults every Thursday night. You'd be very welcome to come down to any of them and play some acoustic folk/ska, or just chat about vegetarian cooking, also one of my favourite things ;)

If you're living in Stone then you could do worse than check out Granville's on a Monday night, when there is a much-loved long-running open mic run by Paul Walker. There's a couple of others up that way run by Dan Toft as well, but I've never checked any of them out as they all clash with things I do in Stafford.

Hi, that’s a fantastic support network and much needed. I have been reading past blogs about Riverway School ( I’m still in contact with my maths teacher who is amazing) where I attended until I went to Weston Road High School in 1979 as one of the first pupils. I loved the school, teachers, made close friends. I lived in Stafford where I was settled, had friends, a boyfriend and was in the middle of my mock exams, until my parents plucked me out in 1981 to move to Stoke. From then on my life was turned upside down. I refused to go to school, lost my hair, made me very ill. Married at 18. Not the right thing to do. Down down. I still feel the loss of my life because I somehow lost me. I have an old photo booth pic of me and my Stafford boyfriend so sad, he turned up at my house when I was 17 on the very day I had got engaged to be married !,,!pity he hadn’t come earlier.
I missed my life and my friends, especially one whom I did get in contact with but it dwindled. I suffer from mental health problems and this was certainly a trigger. Does anyone else share similar experiences that continue to cause pain and hurt

Hi

My name's Laura.

My son and daughter have just moved here and are a bit lonely this summer holiday, having left their friends behind.
They are 4 (M) and 6 (F).
I know they will meet other friends once they start school, but that's 5 weeks away.
Does anyone know of any places they could go, in Stafford, to meet other children their own age?

The play area in the park will be heavily used in the holiday months, they may find like-minded associates there...

I'd love to see live music return on a larger stage in town. As I understand it legislation has had a big negative impact on doing just this . As well as expensive insurance.

What experience do you have in putting on live music?

Are you Harvey Goldsmith?

If so, we've met

Hot damn - y'aright @shoes ?

Everybody seems to have retreated to their respective safe spaces - facilitated by the algorithms brought to you by Facebook - so as not to have to answer the questions that might otherwise disturb them.

The forum still seems to go about its business, without overtly pissing people off. Perhaps because it doesn't overtly attempt to piss people off (though i have been uncharacteristically provocative over the last few weeks - in an 'install a jukebox to liven' things up a bit kind of malarkey), it is perhaps a bit quieter than you will remember.

What's the news, shoes?

Not new but returning.

I haven't been in here for so long that my profile had my MySpace URL in it!
Many moons have passed since and I've popped in as part of a mission.

I found someone's glasses up on Beaconside today, a little way down from the lights for the Tech park. Any hints, tips, links to appropriate threads etc. would be most welcome.

You could try this - https://www.facebook.com/currentspottedstafford/ - quite a wide readership, though more nutters than here...

Welcome back!
