Examples of poor driving you have witnessed!

I can always spot the A34 to A449 people
Yeah, they're generally predictable, but it strikes me that a simple 'ghost island', just a few feet wide, might get a little more respect than the solid white line does, without losing much queueing space.

It was a dark Fiesta, for future reference. She was nearly hit by the boy racer who was waiting for space to nip round me, as I drifted left, but I don't think she noticed that, either.

Waiting at the pedestrian lights just before the Asda two into three lane bit on the Queensway, I decided that the woman on my left looked like the sort that would leave her A34 lane and just go straight ahead into the A449 lane without looking or indicating.

I was right!

Oh, hang on, no I wasn't, she went straight across me into the A518 lane.

Impressive.

That is rather. Going into the middle lane can somewhat be excused if you’re not familiar (I rarely go up the A34 so had to do it today), the split doesn’t make a huge amount of sense as generally left lane is for first and second exit, so with that in mind the left lane should be the one to split, not the right lane.

However going all the way across is just moronic

I suspect that the A518 traffic is less than either the A34 or the A449, and adding those two together into the left lane would lead to backing up into the 'roundabout' area at busier times*..

I went through again today, and noted that the 'barrier' at the split is not even a solid white line, as I thought, but a broken one. Such an odd layout really needs a bit more thought and care, surely?

*I try to avoid those, so don't really know what goes on then...

Likewise, I try to only shop in the evenings or during weekdays.

It’s all just a bit poorly designed really. The whole stretch is, with 4 lots of lights within visible distance of each other...

That happens regularly, almost as often as the twats that sit in the centre lane at the previous lights on Lammascote Road (clearly signposted & marked on the road surface as "Town Centre") who then turn left onto Queensway

I'm waiting for a crash on the Lichfield Road island. 3 or 4 times in the last few weeks I've come from Newport Road direction and somebody has pulled out from the island, only yards in front of me as I go across the junction. It's almost like they looked at me and thought "stuff it"!

I'm quite used to people pulling out on me at the Four Crosses island, when I have right of way, but at least the chap today had had the decency to make his car more visible by painting blue and yellow squares down the side of it.

Nothing to worry about, they are highly trained.

Amusingly, one of these people's vans (not the one in the picture) cut me up a couple of times just now. Given that their existence is based on putting up road signs, you might imagine that they would pay attention to them and, maybe, the road markings, as well?

Or, perhaps not...

Later, whilst waiting to turn right through a line of slow-moving oncoming traffic (and holding up a line behind me), I played the "Guess Who Will Let Me Through" game and successfully predicted that it would be the seventh car, a Skoda - the first six being the sort of vehicles that are driven by people who are more important.

One of those 'sort of vehicles' wouldn't be a BMW by any chance ?

I've long held a theory that in the headliner directly above the driver's seat in all BMWs, there is a device which is activated by the weight of the driver on the seat. It then lowers a small tube into the top of the driver's head and sucks out all the brain matter.

Volkswagen and Audi are desperately trying to copy this idea, but Volkswagen want to do it on the cheap, using rotating blades !! Audi, with their hi-tech reputation in mind, are trying for some kind of matter transporter that will beam the driver's brain straight into the heart of the Sun.

BMW, Audi, Range Rover - that sort of thing.

Audi's device is being trialled now, it converts whatever brain matter it does find into photons and directs it straight into the eyes of oncoming drivers.

That makes more sense. I mean, all that dead matter appearing in the heart of the Sun, who knows what that might cause ? (supernovas, black holes, neutron stars … or … perish the thought … a star being driven by a 'more important' driver !!!) :gonk: :tumbleweed:

Wondered why all the vans on the Bridle Road post office carpark were driving off over the pavement/kerb the other day onto the Cannock Rd . Got closer to see a Range Rover parked actually in the only entrance to the carpark, completely blocking anyone from getting either in or out

Came out of the post office to see the 2 female occupants driving off......only to see the same Range Rover minutes later parked in a 'straight' driveway , but at angle across the next doors adjacent clearly defined driveway , blocking the neighbours car in :ohno:

Does anyone remember an Audi tv ad some years ago (80’s/90’s ?) where a brash Jack-the-lad / Yuppie type takes an Audi for a test drive through London ? He’s shouting to his mates, blasting the horn and pedestrians are running for cover etc. At the end of the test drive he hands the keys back to the salesman saying something like “No thanks mate - it’s not my style”. I thought at the time that it was exactly his style.

Everybody talks about Panthers and Tigers. But the true workhorse of the Panzer Armies of World War Two was the Mark IV, thought up in the main by no less than Heinz Guderian himself. So OK, the Tiger drivers became BMW drivers, the Panther drivers became Volkswagen drivers … but for the good old Mark IV panzer … well:

'Vorsprung Durch Technik'

(For any German readers of this post, I know it was actually built for the most part by Krupp. No offence is meant, it's a joke. I've actually worked and trained in a Krupp factory in Bremerhaven and fully appreciate German engineering. (Phew … wipes brow, loads Walther P38 just in case.)) :heyhey:

Yay ! That's the ad. Reading the youtube comments under that clip people seem to be expressing similar sentiments - what on earth was the ad agency thinking of ! Audi shot themselves in the foot with that one and now it’s come back to haunt them.
