Got this bit of garden up the side of the house gravelled yesterday. Should've done it in the week but weather stopped play.

Sun came out at 15:50 yesterday, border was levelled and gravelled and I was washed, changed and in the pub by 17:30. Managed a little pruning with my new loppers too.
Giving it a day or two to settle before trimming the membrane.

I know that @BobClay sits there just waiting for updates, so I thought he might be interested to see that all the recent clippings have been turned in now.

And I tarted up the old Lervad bench.

It was meant to be part of a multi-bench assembly for school use, so the legs aren't very solid - also it's a little bit low.

So, I may use it to make a better leg arrangement at some point.

I'm jealous of the bench.

So, despite putting a good few extra triangulation struts in the greenhouses years ago, we've still had a couple of cracked panes over the last few years.

The two structures were (loosely) attached to each other, mostly for sunshade supporting purposes, but I have decided to embark on a further inter-bracing modification. The idea is, eventually, to attach the two structures more solidly to each other at 'shoulder' height and then to attach the more sheltered one to the block-built garage adjacent to it.

I've done a bit of it today, but could only obtain one length of angle - that will be sufficient for four attachments as shown here - I've done two today, one at each end.

I've replaced the two cracked panes and this will hopefully reduce the occurrences in the future, if fretting is the causal issue.

I've used aluminium angle and aluminium nuts and bolts to avoid corrosion issues.

As a 'nuclear hardened bunker builder' (try saying that fast ) your efforts leave much to be desired. :buddy:

I was going to do a 'benchmark' joke about your earlier post … … but my groan-o-meter blew up in the test phase.

So, I didn't actually have quite enough to make the box folds on both ends of the fourth one, but there's three struts installed for now.

My agent at the supplier is primed to retain two more lengths when they finally arrive.

It should survive until then.

So, the current arrangement is at least symmetrical.

And the removal of the wires that held the previous set-up together has reduced the obstructions in the gutters.

And so another season begins. (Well actually training began a few weeks ago, and this is only a practice game rather than a real one.)

Our guys are the ones in red.

Three shelves installed, with infrequently needed and seasonal items stowed, releasing more accessible storage for alternative uses.

So, I've finished off the shelving project - I installed the lower pair of uprights, obtained a few more brackets and replaced the temporary shelves with 'proper' ones, made from 18mm shuttering ply.

Apart from the top shelf, the others needed to be 11" deep, to act as a stop for the side door as it engages the automatic catch, and just short of four feet long to not obstruct the main doors - so they made efficient us of an 8' x 4' sheet.

Lots of 'stuff' is now easily accessible in what was a bit of 'dead space'.
