And idea which flooded car park made it onto Midlands today?

I can't place it but then I have been away a while.

Stafford Borough Council's Cabinet meeting, on 7 November 2019, will consider increasing car parking charges and introducing new charges covering evenings and Sundays.

Short stay charges will rise by up to 10%, whilst long stay charges will rise by up to 66.7%.

See pages 59 to 66 here.

Charging for evening parking will kill the businesses that open in the evening, especially if you arrive just before 6pm in which case you have to keep paying the daytime hourly rate, so it seems.

Why pay to park in Stafford at night when going for a meal or when shopping at Sainsbury's when there are so many fabulous alternatives out of town where you can actually feel welcome .

Short sighted and bloody stupid.

Totally agree with this.
When businesses and High Streets are struggling, why would anyone think that it would be a good idea to introduce evening parking charges.

However, I’m going to totally contradict myself here, because there is one car park in Stafford, not owned by SBC, but I think people would actually be happy to pay for evening parking. The Aldi/B&M car park.
This car park was previously regularly used by patrons of The Gatehouse Theatre.
People (especially lone women) have said they would rather pay £1 or so than walk across Stafford alone, late at night.

Well, you Conservative voters can't really complain can you?

You voted for austerity

The local authorities get the austerity in funding cuts.

The local authority looks to ways to make up the reduced funding

And so it goes

Or had you forgotten what you did there?

Oh FFS put a sock in it and stop assuming who voted for what and where.

It’s my understanding that you’ve buggered off to France, so why do you care anyway?

Why wouldn't they? Car parks are business's, they are there to make money.... Get offa my land! (or pay a fee for parking there).

Followed by the sound of wheels spinning as our hero goes somewhere else to spend his money.
True, we may not like it, but it's reality.

(still wondering where I can park for my night out tomorrow, without incurring a parking ticket, flooding, of being towed away illegally?)

*edit, I might nick @Glam 's parking space...
