Why did the system change?
Because the forum moved to a new 'platform' that was more of a 'plug-in and away you go' sort of affair, with 'off the peg' add-ons.

In its previous incarnation people ended up with - (as in minus) mega-amounts of arbitrary bollox points. At one point @basil was down in the minus thousands.

Feckin' basil, man - ffs?!? Legend.

One would argue that the introduction of the 'like' system that replaced it is as least as bad, though probably not any worse - at least it only promotes positive contributions. This is true only up to a point, though. Because, because, because... why don't they like me?

The whole Tesco ClubCard aspect of it is risible, and ultimately detrimental to the ethos that should be engendered in a public space such as this. It is too easy to retreat into the kind of 'safe spaces' that more successful 'social media' sites have capitalised upon in the last ten years or so. Things shouldn't be too hard, but that doesn't mean they should be too easy.

Who gives a feck whether anybody 'likes' what you have to say?

Have there been any 'hustings' kind of announcements?

Is there anybody willing to put their head above the parapet?

Fight me, motherf**ker!

Dunno .... but apparently our LibDem candidate is their youngest in the country at just over 18yrs 8mnths.
I mentioned him (Alex Wagner) a while ago on the “Leave or Remain” thread.

I said that he wasn’t old enough to vote in the referendum but is now a candidate.

I also mentioned that he is from Manchester/Stockport area so yet again, none of our options actually live, work, or seriously care about Stafford but are all on a career trajectory.

Green candidate appears to live in Stafford. From Stoke but lives in Stafford.

Judging by a recent pic of the Tory candidate you'd be forgiven for thinking we were a constituency in the Gloucestershire countryside..... Oh hang on...

Their patter was a bit suspect too: "Vere is ze nearest military encampment Britisher Schweinhund."

(It does look like he's saying that doesn't it ? :teef: )

My auntie doesn't care about elections or politics.

She has never voted.

When my cousin turned 18 he voted for the first time.

That same year she also went to the polling station and voted.

She voted for the opposite party. Just to counteract my cousin's vote.

farking brilliant!!!

Always wear a waxed jacket whenever one must mix it with the Proles - who knows what manner of effluent might be flinging about?

It's nice to know that everyone has given up on us, and the Conservatives can now just lob anyone at us, though, isn't it?

Now we can throw our votes away with gay abandon.
