Most intrigued as to why a delivery driver has pulled up nearby , put some of the parcels in the front of the van, then climbed inside the back and shut the doors behind him. Been there ages ....

Well, he wasn't locked in anyway ...just got back out and driven off .

They load up the next few parcels, stop for lunch and then go about their route

I thought he might have been having a bit of a kip or something (or got a portaloo in there :D) Just seemed strange he was parked up in the driveway!

At least my plumber is able to get my missing part, ready to get cracking with the bath again on Monday.
In the mean time a post on another thread has given me an idea, so I can get spruced up for tonight.....

Wondering if my kitchen sink will support my weight......

I do have a sink to fit in the garage at some point - the water supply reaches the adjacent greenhouse, currently.

treated the wife today to one of those Weighted Blankets.

They are supposed to help with anxiety as well as other things.
I really couldnt see how it would work but no word of a lie, she was asleep within 30 mins of wrapping it around her.
They are pretty expensive , the one i ordered was a little over £100 but i would recommend them to anyone who suffers from Heightened anxiety, stress and depression and apparently they are supposed to work for those with autism.

Anyone else got one, and did they work for you also ?

My missus, an ex-SENCo, says they (and similar things) worked with her kids.

Some astronauts reportedly struggle with the lack of weight from the tethered sleeping bags on the ISS and resort to straps to provide a bit of pressure from the "bedclothes".

I' m awake for most of the night, with an over- active mind and worrying about every little thing. Maybe It would work for me to get to sleep ( although do have a big weighty duvet already which ain't working)

This came in a box and it was bloody heavy for its size.
It would fit a queen size bed so pretty big.

Just checked the weight for you and its 10Kg.

Hope that helps.
If you decide to try one they give you 100 days to return if you don't like it.
If you want the make and details I'll look them out and send a link over in the morning :)

( by the way , shes still asleep :P )

I have a 1960s Swedish military jacket, with a detachable fleece lining - with the lining in place, it is stupidly heavy and always catches out any 'shall I take your coat?' people when it's handed over.

But, when wearing it, the weight is just not apparent, and it is supremely warm and comfortable.

Cheers @perry081064
Got a super King Size bed ( knocked 2 rooms into one to get it in, but a godsend with us both having major ops and needing the space after) and a super king size duvet with a cover which seems to weigh a tonne.

Will try to weight it on the Wii tomorrow and compare weights

The girl washing my hair today asked me ...

“So, are you all sorted for Christmas then”

She’s lovely, and I go there every week, so I managed to restrain myself, took a deep breath, and with some considerable difficulty, I didn’t say the words that were rampaging in my head.

Easier to just say “Not exactly, no”.

I may have the same sort of thing - M65 jacket with a detachable fleece lining. I wore it out this evening for the first time this winter and, boy, was it warm .... But heavy when you take it off.

I wore a lined M65 going to the Eden project the other day. Great bit of clothing, but nearly killed me in the rain forest biodome .. :urgh:

Sounds a good idea, I've always found duvets to be too light and preferred the weight of sheets and blankets
I've got sheets as well as a big heavy duvet and heavy duvet covers. Hate it in hotels when there is only the duvet and no top sheet.

Was actually saying to son the other day , after trying to lug the massivily heavy duvet cover onto the line and taking ages to get dry, that I could do with buying thinner and easier to dry ones . Maybe won't now though reading this.

We ordered one but ended up sending it back, it did help the wife sleep though. The only reason we sent it back was because it basically built a wall in the middle of the bed due to the weight which was rather annoying for us but may not bother others

Seem to have found a happy medium with a grid-sewn duvet now, it’s not as effective but is quite weighty hanging off the bed (king size on a double, the only way to go!) as it’s basically got its stuffing in a grid of sewn pockets so that it’s impossible for all of it to end up bunched up at one end.
