Turkey's voting for Christmas. Huge billboard for Mogg the younger at the farm on the A518 the farm that employs a massive number of eastern Europeans.
I did raise my eyebrows at that. They'll really struggle without the migrant workers each summer.

These accounting anomalies .... did they come in with Thatcher, or were they around during the 50s, 60s and 70s administrations?

I was going to say more like Robert Walpole than Thatcher but to be honest I don't really know. Certainly in force by the early 1960s

1. is worrying. It'd be interesting to know the reason behind it (I'm assuming there was a good reason.)

The Treasury needs reasons? The thinking seems to be that as Government money has been spent on it that money will always be owed to the Government

I've come across 2. The March Spend. It was very real years ago. Not sure it's still the case recently as saving money has been the name of the game.

Probably still goes on but there is far less money to spend now.

3. - I assume you mean 13 4-week periods. Financial years seem to vary for whatever reason. The Education Department's used to run from April to March to presumably fit in with the rest of the Council whereas it would probably have been better to have it from September to August to fit in with the academic year.

Yes, 13 4 week "months". It might have made sense when most things were done weekly but nowadays most payments are made monthly and the 4 weekly system is a pain in the arse as payments either way are not made on the same day each month but slowly move through the month.

Mind you I've always lived in a yellow submarine, but only in the evenings. When the morning comes … so does the hangover. :quagmire:

The feck...

I like the fact that 'Theo' likes to disengage herself from her moth-balled definitely actually an Uncle Jacob.

Because we should definitely ask her only what she thinks about unky Jacob's ruminations on the Grenfell Disaster ad infinitum.

Labour out in the town today preaching the communist propaganda of comrade Corbyn.
Conservatives outed as propagandists of Fuhrer Johnson?

Johnson is actually shit at public speaking isn't he? We get spoon-fed that he is some sort of orotorial genius, and yet our own experience tells us he's genuinely as shit at it as he is at everything else.

If that becomes our Prime Minister, by actual choice, we deserve everything that follows from it.

They have, at least, changed the font for the 'unleashing of our potential'.

For all the good that will do.

His act is Schrödinger‘s buffoon, it’s simultaneously him acting like a buffoon to seem more relatable but is actually very smart, while also actually being a bumbling idiot with no public speaking skills. He’s managed to harness the fact that he’s an idiot basically.

If she was truly disgusted with his actions she wouldn’t be a Tory, because that’s him just saying the quiet bit out loud.

How do I edit this?

I mean, I see a lot in Theodora Clarke that makes me not want to vote for her, but is it really fair to hold her accountable for who her aunt decided to marry?

If, let's say for the sake of argument, I had a cousin-once-removed in his twenties who had been in and out of prison since his teens & I last saw him at a family gathering when he was about 8, would it reflect badly on me?

Why would Theo have placards printed with the slogan “WORKING HARD FOR STAFFORD & PENKRIDGE” when she hasn’t got the job yet ? Is she already ’working hard’ for us at the moment doing . . . 'whatever' in the run up ? Was she 'working hard' for BRISTOL EAST in the 2017 election - but then dumped them when she didn't get elected ?
