Criminals & the elderly are the only people left who carry cash...

Watch out for @staffordjas, she's up to no good!
I often feel like that as the young staff try to count my cash

Son .....when I treat him out for a meal whilst visiting him in Worcester, but he goes to the bar to order...... pays with his contactless card instead of using my cash or 'pin' card and I transfer the money over to him after

I took minime to a 'new' hairdresser recently, her cut was nearly finished when I realised that I couldn't see a till anywhere - I was mortified when she said they only take cash, as I just don't take any out.... Thanks to 'emergency' tenner' and all the loose coins in the bottom of my bag I just managed to pay for it... :ohno:

I will never fail to be impressed by a species that thinks it can conquer the Universe armed with a sink sucker and an egg whisk. Especially now that the 'stairs' problem has been solved. :heyhey:

I still pay for my haircut with a cheque....
I have not written a cheque for myself this century - I have done a few for other people and my chequebook still has the 'helpful' 19-- for the date, crossing that out and writing 20-- seems to work - even for other people, the last one was in early 2014. That last cheque prompted a new book to be sent...

Yes, they've just sent me a new one, but I will have lost it by the time my current one runs out I am sure.

I still use my cheque book as well . Although when I bought my mini , BMW at Radford wouldn't accept either a personal cheque or building society cheque for payment. They'd only accept card payment. At that time if I got a building society cheque to pay into my LLoyds account it wouldn't have cleared in time. So I had to keep going to the building society over a few days, draw out my daily cash limit each time and pay the cash into Lloyds so that I could pay for the car by visa

In the Co-op this morning , saw a man paying with his watch........

Various 'small' societies and organisations still require payment by cheque for subscriptions etc and cheques are always useful for birthday & Christmas presents so I still use a few cheques each year. Otherwise mostly card payments.

There's a house in the village for sale that way. I believe the buyer puts a bid in and if accepted has to pay a deposit almost immediately.
