7 miles there, 10.7 miles on the way back...I walked to the pub today. A 17.7 mile round trip...
Well it was 12 miles there. Could have made it a 10 miler if we hadn't gone the long way this morning!

So, it's not even 4pm & you've managed to fit in several pints AND a couple of G & T's? I need to up my game...Power just come on having been off all day due to supply line work. I'm all electric, so no power … nothing except the mobile. Went to Bude and walked the town including the beach. As you can see the weather was good, although that strong north-westerly wind is cold … it would peel the hide of an armadillo.
There were some impressive big rollers coming in, but not a surfer in sight (bloody pansies.) Ignore the seagull, he kept in front of me all the way I walked the beach … a total poser determined to get on the internet.
Still no power on return so went down the pub and used their WIFI, and did some pints. Upon returning still no power, but I had remembered to empty the freezer (only a small one) and leave it off for de-icing. Probably just as well as it's not been done for a while (I found a frozen mammoth at the back of it … maybe I should do it more regularly.)
Still some ice in the trays and with due respect to the environment I forced myself to used it in a couple of gin and tonics … it was a sacrifice … but I decided to make it.
Jeez are we ever screwed by the lack of electricity …

Thought of that..... well, piece of wood with nails in...then thought of the local cats and birds being found inpaled detered me.... (Plus , many years ago, when my parents put barbed wire on their 6 foot fence which bordered an alleyway to deter the intruders who kept constantly climbing over, they were warned by the cops to take it down as if intruders got hurt, my parents would get done for injuring them!)
I don't know where it was, as only started taking attention when seeing the fantastic road bridge, and then hearing " Stafford"Was that up near Auckland ? New Zealand is an incredible country, it's the only country I ever visited where I'd be prepared to live if not the UK. It's got just about everything …

A few years ago I helped tourists from New Zealand find car hire and accommodation,in Stafford and Great Haywood ,as part of their Haywood's to Manchester canal cruise. When the lady rang me to meet up at Shugborough whilst here, I found it so difficult to understand her. She wrote perfect English, but pronounced it so differently.
