I inadvertently caught a bit of a 1988 Top of the Pops tonight in a frantic search for the remote control (these things are the originator's of 'stealth technology') and I caught the song 'With a Little Help from my Friends' done by the aptly named band: Wet Wet Wet … (should be called Wetter than Effing Wet Wet Wet.)

What in f***s name were they thinking of ? (I always said the 80's was shite decade) thinking they could do a Lennon McCartney song that was immortalised by the late great Joe Cocker.

I blame Thatcher … :grr: :P

Yeah, I know, MODs … (lower lifeforms than even the dumbest amoeba,) but I always liked this track as it came out while I was on a Pier Head Liverpool Shipping Federation training school course learning how to change oil burners on a boiler. (No, I'm not so old as I remember coal burners.) We used to play it on one of those rotating carousel juke boxes in a Pier Head café of the city that was in the process of astounding the world with its music.
Yep, I'm well aware it all sounds like corny shit now … (it does to me !!) .. but it was startling stuff back then. And it introduced me to two years of working in Shell Tanker engine rooms …. for which … I blame the bloody MODs. !!!
(Only joking … ISH.) :P
