From someone who lives in Albufiera where we are due to go to...'We are now seeing the first precautionary measures down here in the Algarve. All local football has been cancelled until at least 28th March. The final of the Algarve Women's Cup, scheduled for tonight, was called off yesterday to allow the Italian party to find a way home before all flights are cancelled.
Also closed here in Albufeira until at least next Tuesday are swimming pools, sports halls, museums, galleries and the public library.
Situation to be reviewed next Tuesday. The annual junior basketball festival scheduled for 2nd to 7th April is also cancelled.'

We don't go until May , so hoping things improve by then and we can still have our holiday.

Not getting any joy with that link.

Very slow to load. Shows for UK confirmed cases 456, deaths 8, recovered 18, active 430. Equivalent figures for Spain are 2277, 55, 183, 2089 and Portugal 59, 0, 0, 59. For China the figures are given for individual provinces and for USA for individual states. Overall suggests that most known cases are still active rather than recovered.

Top of the list are China (can't be bothered to add up figures for all the provinces), italy 12,462 confirmed cases, Iran 10,075, South Korea 7,869. France 2,281, Spain 2,277, Germany 2,078, Norway 702, Switzerland 652, Japan 639, Denmark 615, Netherlands 503, Sweden 500, UK 456, Belgium 314, Austria 302, Quatar 262, ... Ireland 43. (USA should come quite high on the list but I can't be bothered to add up all the figures for the individual states). All figures now out of date.

My cousin lives in the Black Country and sent me this post ... (yeah, right ... as if the Black Country has a Sainsburys ...)

"So I have just been into Sainsbury's.

Honestly it was shocking - they had no toilet paper at all.

Reluctantly I headed for the customer service and asked if they had any.
A firm NO and a look of disgust was the answer.

Walking back to the toilets with my pants and trousers around my ankles was a walk I never want to do again."

Called in at Asda, Queens retail park on my walk back from town. Large packs of loos rolls were the 'special display' as you walked in the doors

After two days at least the stacks were rather low, so staff were bringing out another pallet load of loo rolls. Shortage, or are the empty shelves in other stores actually a form of rationing?

I called in to buy a kitchen bin today, and there were some still sitting on the pallet. Decided to buy a pack while they were £7.50 They were £9 a few weeks ago when I bought my last pack before the virus.

Bunged the pack into the bin I'd just bought and walked home discovering bin + loo rolls = heavy
Noticed looking through Aldi windows as I passed that their loo roll shelf, which was full yesterday, was empty. ( They did have a lorry arriving though).

Hubby did mention tonight as we walked around Co-op and there were smaller packs still on shelves..." Is it just in other parts of the country it's scarce, as seems like there's some actually available around here?"

None in Tesco, Asda, Aldi or Lidl yesterday teatime.
The Range had a couple of dozen 9 packs in.

wanna see my snake?
Just saw that the Azores has stopped immigration for a while, no confirmed cases there but all people entering the islands now get 2 weeks quarantine so effectively stopping all holidays. I had been looking at flights to Terceira for Easter but guess we'll be going to Wales this year.

That's what is going to happen for me too - I need the FCO to stop travel to get the money back...

We aren't going to get any more numbers now given the self-isolation advice. We just have to be mindful of vulnerable people. We are all likely to get it, and for the vast majority of us we'll have no idea. Unfortunately that won't be the case for everyone.

If the woman scaring everyone with a really bad dry cough in Aldi earlier had it, then most of the people in there will probably have caught it , including me ! :hmm: Tried not breathing whilst paying , but couldn't hold my breath for that long .
I'd only nipped in for my brioche buns, was wishing I'd have gone without ( place was manic . Cashier commented they would be going home early at this rate as there'd be nothing left to sell  )

I see all EFL matches have now been cancelled until at least 3 April

BTW noticed there were still a few 24 packs of loo roll left in Asda retail park when I was down there again this morning. Lady in front of me had a pack of 4 , so must have had those in as well. Never noticed if yesterday's pallet of 9 packs was still there.

Hoping printer ink isn't going to be scarce as well, going to need loads with hubby using ours working from home. I had the only one left on the shelf of my type.
