Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
A out a month ago Loreal decided the change the name of my usual home colour (5.3) from Chestnut Brown to Golden Brown and when I used it it was indeed also a different colour, and it didn't hold onto those dreaded grey hairs..

Rooting around at work yesterday & I found a very old battered box of Chestnut Brown, so phew, I'm safe for another few weeks...

If anyone has stockpiles of Chestnut Brown hanging around please contact me!

:D
Why not embrace the grey? My better half decided to about 18 months ago and after working out a plan with her hairdresser on how to do it gradually, is now her natural colour. I love it.

Wickes - twenty quid - should last ten years and there's plenty in a tin for a few more goes.

There's not enough for it to look lovely, just enough to be annoying! Then again, maybe this will be the last time I colour it....

Currently clearing out the garage and other accumulations of "junk" that have grown over the years. I hope the Katharine House warehouse is going to be big enough. We might even auction some of it (any suggestions would be welcome as we've never done this sort of thing before). ETA Oops ... I guess in the period of self isolation, auctions are a bit of a no-no.

Thank you , im doing my best for him but i think his toilet needs may get the better of us this time :(
i'm torn , i love him to bits and because of that my heart says this is cruel but also i dont want him to go , the responsible head on my shoulders says theres a time and its getting near that time.
hes not in pain i dont think , but im sure theres now no feeling in his hind legs and i dont want him living like this dragging himself across the floor. hes eating and drinking but even that is assisted now.
hes had the best i can give him over the years and i want him to go remembering that , not weeks of being stuck in and not being able to do anything himself.
some may say im perhaps rushing this and its too soon, however ive had my mate by my side for years and i know , i just know.

again , thanks @Lucy , im going to discuss his situation again this morning with the vet and i will make a decision based on his prognosis.
Much love to your family. Such a distressing time that I have been through too much. Whatever decision will always feel wrong at the time.

Just nearly given hubby a heart attack when I came back from getting eggs and bacon from Bridle Road butchers. He picked up the visa receipt off the side from my hair appointment at Francesco Bridle road the other day , and mistook it for the butchers few purchases. "How much????!!!!:o "

Found out Bridle Rd Butchers are doing a delivery service , for those self isolating, from next Monday. Much relieved , worry about having to go out to buy my fridge stuff is no more. :)

Someone I 'know' on Facebook had a significant birthday yesterday. I looked for a suitable cake picture and found a nice one, but it also, by coincidence, had the dreaded number on it, so I chickened out and sent her a generic one, with just Happy Birthday and her name - there was, however, for whatever reason, a strip of icing across it with Braille dots on it. I presumed it just said the same, but, just now, I decided to check it and it actually said Happy 50th Birthday.

Luckily, somebody had outed her in the meantime, so I may survive...

I’ve spent quite a lot of time today liaising with other villagers trying to quickly set up a support group to help those who are in self isolation.

This hasn’t been helped because those trying to help are all in self isolation ourselves, so we can’t even have a meeting, but instead are trying to communicate by other means.

Anyway, a support group will be up and running by tomorrow so that those that are able can help those who are isolated.

I’ve already taken a cottage pie and a chicken casserole to someone that now can’t shop for herself. Someone else bought her eggs, bread and milk.

Other people in the village are offering to do shopping and picking up prescriptions for those in need.
Some people are offering a daily phone call.

We are very quickly pulling together and I feel lucky to be in a caring community because I know that not everyone has that support.

And this is why we'll be locked down. Too many people congregating as they don't care/are ignorant.
If you say so. But I don't give in to panic. Panic is the true enemy, that isn't opinion, that's personal experience.

Yes I meant to reply to this too.

I totally agree with @Lucy here, and agreeing with the majority of the country.

Sorry @BobClay but this isn’t just panic, this is some people not giving a tinkers toss about other people.

Did we not survive the kind of arsehole behaviour we have now?

Yes, exactly the same kind of arsehole behaviour.

Stop fetishising a time that was rife with exactly the kind of asshole behaviour you see now - scaled down as it was - because we have some sort of native narrative that we "all pulled together", or that somehow we were all 'in it together'.

Grow up, you were lied to then, and you are being lied to now.

The Boomers have taken the bait so completely that the lure is still lodged in their cheeks.

Yesterday was day 1 of WFH. I used my morning commute to go on a bike ride, walked round the village at lunch and ran for my evening commute. My yoga teacher is doing YouTube live classes so I also did one of those. If nothing else I'll be fit by the end of this.

Fair enough. I'll isolate completely,

It’s difficult, but the more people mingle, the more it will spread so some sacrifices have to be made.
It’s especially hard for those living alone.

A friend of mine sent me a picture of them having an outside coffee morning where they took chairs and coffee outside and sat at a distance from each other.
I think that there will be more of that going on when the weather warms up.
I’ve had plenty of chats with people by going out for a walk, other people out getting fresh air up for a chat, but we kept our distance.

Social distancing doesn’t necessarily have to mean total isolation, but we’ve all got to get used to a different sort of normal for a while.
