House Selling Advice

Hi All!

I am in the process of selling my house, we have chosen an agent, had pictures taken, floor plan sorted etc etc

We just need to push the button to get it online!

However.... Is this the right time to sell?

I know no one has definite answers about what will happen but am I shooting myself in the foot by putting my house on the market when no one will leave quarantine to see it? Or is the opposite - people have extra time off work to do these kind of things?

I am also looking to buy (hello Scotland!) and am glad to have the time off to be able to go up and view as needed, I usually get 4/5 Rightmove alerts a day but they seem to have dried up!

Thoughts?

Thank you

I think it's probably a buyers market. That said, with interest rates being low affordability isn't quite so hard.

Sons had his house on the market since last April, lots of viewings, a few offers but they've all fallen through.

Sad to hear you are off to Scotland, one of my favourite colleagues is doing the same to x

You are also increasing your exposure to possible virus carrying viewers who may unknowingly be spreading the virus.

Also with many people likely to have reduced or no income shortly the number of potential buyers may be limited at the moment.

I would wait for a few weeks/months and see what happens in terms of lockdowns and put it on the market when things start looking like getting back to some sort of normal.

Thank you for the advice guys - I hadn't considered the possible impact of the current situation on mortgages!

However annoyingly the decision was taken out of my hands!

Without agreeing to any T&C or seeing the advert it was placed on Rightmove yesterday afternoon!

I already have two people wanting to view (which is a positive I suppose) but a bit cross at the agent for not even giving the choice!

See if you can find Martin Lewis on Radio5 Live last Monday lunchtime, or around 12:30 at least, as I'm sure he answered a question about whether it was a good time to move house / renew your mortgage / whatever.

Yes - I saw this and have been keeping a close eye out!

Despite the news my sale is progressing well, both the buyer and myself have appointments with the bank to organise mortgages.

The only real delay is the solicitors of the house I am buying have gone into lock down (why they can't work from home is beyond me...)
In my experience, a lot of solicitors can't even work from their offices.

We live in hope that the 'current situation' will not last as long as the standard for delays in house purchasing transactions.
