This thread was created in 2014 when the club hit rock bottom but re-grouped and found a way forward, with a new start.

6 years on, threatened with relegation, with reduced debts but having no big backer, Covid19 strikes!
This is a whole new can of worms for every sporting association up and down the land.
Announcements to cut paid staff and have contracted players switched to the government scheme etc, plans were put into place to cut costs, start fund raising and look at how we can improve things.
Letters to shareholders inviting them for applications, more lottery promotion and a whole "Virtual Match Experience" set up on the website. A chance to invest now, including match tickets where you don't just pay money in but get admission to games when the season kicks off.
Details here

Lottery here
https://www.staffordrangersfc.co.uk/lottery/
The lottery includes a partnership scheme where you can join as a club or association and get 50% commission for all that you collect. This may be useful in the coming months if your group needs to raise funds.

** The FA and League have just announced that from our level down to level 6 there will be no relegation or promotion and records are expunged. While that means we are saved this time, clubs such as ours need investment to move on.

**This is not some hollow plea form a club asking for money. The club has become a valuable part of the community in recent years - Having a fully renovated club that serves many functions including charities, training, business and gatherings, plus coming to the aid of all of the emergency services during the Astonfields fire disaster.

Thanks for the links @gilbert grape.

I had intended to go to the Rangers a couple of times this season but hadn't managed to find any spare time to do so. So instead I have signed up and I am now a Gold Star Friend :)

Hopefully I'll make it to Marston Road when the new season eventually starts.

Good luck with the fundraising.

Hooperman as a Stafford Rangers fan thank you.

Personally I think they should have played out the rest of the season from whenever they got the go ahead.

Take the Premiership and the Championship for example, and say games were able to be played in front of fans from September.

Play the remaining games from the 2019/20 season in September and October, including playoffs for promotion. Apply relegation and promotion changes to the divisions. Then split the two divisions into two sub-divisions based on league position - Premiership A and B, and Championship A and B. Then play a reduced schedule of 18 or 22 games between November and May. Premiership A teams would just be playing to qualify for Europe; Premiership B teams would just be playing to avoid relegation. Championship A teams would just be playing for promotion; Championship B teams would just be playing to avoid relegation.

And so on down the pyramid. Simples.

It's a situation that will divide opinion across the world, as this is a global sporting situation, as well as general life.
Football-wise, further up the tree, players are full time but the non league game has largely part time players, clubs run by volunteers and relying on social and commercial income as well as gate money.
The whole situation of spilling over to later months has a knock on effect with the 2020 now 2021 Euros.

I'm really just playing "Fantasy Football Leagues" - well, it's not like I've not got plenty of time on my hands.

IMO
a) the 2019/20 season should be completed
b) the format of the 2020/21 season is up for grabs, but should be decided before this season resumes, and
c) season 2021/22 is back to normal.

And with a bit of luck Harry Kane should be fit for the Euros (see, it ain't all bad news).

This season is null and void.

The reigning champions should hold the title as per boxing..........................

Therefore still the Premiership Kings are Manchester City.

Thank You.

:strange: Have heard, South Shields are lodging an appeal against this decision, and are being backed by others, so hold your breath! Can't see any appeal being successful, can't see SS wasting more money on it, they are losing enough already! But can totally understand their beef! Awful situation and it affects every team, even the hopeless ones! ('Stafford Rangers'? Did I really just hear him say that? :lorks: Ed )

Bought Stafford Rangers shares today! £1 each but to make it worth while, the admin, etc you have to buy a minimum of 50! I bought a few more than that! :football:
I belief it is a great way to support the club, and they have been released to generate cash in these terrible times, when there is no gates income and the social club is shut, and it is a fantastic generator of income for the club. Dark days, and lots of fans have bought shares, and the club will be well on the way to being fan owned! :?: Should an investor decide they want to buy the club; if the majority of other share holders agree to the sale, I might get my money back! I won't be holding my breath! ;) But it is great to be helping the club I have supported for 50 years, attending the AGM, and having a say in the future of the club!
