I had a knock @ the door two days ago.

*that's not the sort of thing one expects in an era of 'social distancing'*

Me: *opens door anyway - hovering back from potential close encounter* Yes?

Geezer: *observing more than adequate social distancing protocols* Have you got your blue bag?

Me: Yes thanks

Geezer: OK

Roll out seems to have gone really bad, what?

Roots - We have closed our physical shop until further notice -
All recycling facilities are postponed at this time too, please hold onto your items until we can begin collecting again.
Roots are still doing online orders and doing contactless delivery. Great for detergants etc, spices, pasta and figuratively 1001 other things. Support these businesses. My wife surprised me with a new shaving kit from there.

1, Does she often 'surprise' you with bladed items?

2, Do you know where the insurance policies are?

What happens if your fridge goes on the fritz, your telly goes tits-up, your washing machine goes awooga? You can't get rid of them in any way that's legal so what the hell are you supposed to do?

Do you have a scrappy come round where you live? Walking around our estate recently, I've noticed several washing machines, tumble driers, etc stood on people's drives presumably waiting for the scrappy to pick them up.

Scrappys are still working, essential service I believe - there's lots on Facebook for you to contact.

Our recycling team have done it different this week. Last time it was 2 seperate lorries for the bins and bags. This time it was just the one lorry and they did them both at once. (Didn't see where the blue bags were actually being tipped into though , they had got down the road so fast that they'd already emptied them and putting back by the time I got out there .....5 bags for our corner just piled back up on top of each other opened up , not left by each bin though)

I saw them pick ours up, they had a big bin on one side of the back of the truck they tipped it in.

If you buy from AO or some of the other big online retailers they can take your old appliance away for a fee

They’re refusing to take orders for extra bags until two bag collections have passed apparently. “Just put the excess next to the bin” they said, because that works so well in a windy and wet country.

Most of our waste seems to be paper/card, so we filled the bag plus another box of similar size last week. We've already filled the bag this week, the blue bin is nearly empty.

Can tell I've stopped drinking!

We’ve got loads of card so may just stick it out on Monday and see what happens
You might find they leave it.

On Baswich Lane yesterday, there'd been a blue bin/blue bag collection, but I noticed one pile of card (from a delivered fridge or something) that had just been left.
