We had started going to the Cannock Rd farm shop (Chase, The Rainbow farm shop) before the lockdown, but have been enjoying deliveries of real quality produce both dairy , meat and fruit and veg etc (and freshly baked bread and cakes :) ) . The farmshop isn't open at the moment, but we really appreciate their delivery service , which also includes extra items being available during the crisis.

Also used to go occassionally to Hindles Bridle Rd butchers , but having regular deliveries of meat , chicken and bacon, from them now as well as bottles of milk , eggs and loaves of bread etc.

Both delivering such good quality produce , and we are living a lot healthier now . Will continue doing most of my shopping with them after this is all over , might be a bit more expensive but well worth it for the quality.

We've started getting deliveries from Chase the Rainbow and have been most impressed. We will certainly continue using them when it's all over.

We've started going to Hindle's. It's on one of our walks .... and we've had to use the Post Office as well and don't really trust the one on Bodmin Avenue. Anyway, I can confirm their meat is wonderful and we've become addicted to bacon sandwiches for lunch.

Pam and her post office staff are great as well.
I always spend far more than intended when I visit the shop. All laid out looking so lovely and tasty. I go in for bacon and come out with a few carrier bags full of assorted goodies. ( The cakes are absolutely gorgeous as well ;) )

Pat on the back to Stafford UPVC.

One of our windows, which we'd left slightly ajar, blew open as far as it could, and wouldn't close properly (you couldn't turn the handle to fully close it). We phoned them up early afternoon and left a message; they called back an hour or so later to say they'd get someone onto it; and then at around 5:00pm a couple of guys rocked up and sorted the problem. We were very impressed given the current crisis and were quite thankful we even got a response.

I saw their advertising sign by the alleyway near the Stafford Railway Building Society when I had to brave it down there last week. Didn't realise they sold jigsaws, was thinking it was more like model railways etc (which we bought years ago from them)

We have a click and collect food order tomorrow afternoon at Asda.... Have they got anything set up for collection or is it just via the usual collection area in the car park?

I’m not sure if anyone responded to @c0tt0nt0p’s post re Asda click and collect so apologies if this is old news.

I’ve just used this service and it is mega confusing.

Firstly you can only amend your order within 2 days of your collection date.

Then if you do update your order many items are shown as being out of stock but they may be back in by the time your order is due.

On the day of collection (middle of the night) you get an email saying your order is being packed and it tells you if any items aren’t available or have been substituted.

Now the confusing part.
The usual collection area isn’t open and there are no notices telling you this on the side you drive into. I sat in this area for 15 minutes before realising I was in the wrong place.

The actual click and collect area is a set of double doors by the taxi area.

There are no instructions on the doors of what you need to do once but if you let the staff know who you are they go off and load your goodies into a trolley whilst you wait outside.

Overall the collection was quite quick once I understood where to go and what to do.

They sell those too - it's a great shop

Thanks for posting this. I was wondering what the procedure was if I did ever manage to find a slot available ( never actually done a click & collect anywhere before either , so didn't know usual procedure before crisis)

Son managed to get his first ever click & collect at the Tesco by him in Worcester yesterday. Received a text beforehand telling him to drive up, stay inside his car and they would load into his boot themselves. ( In free bags). So safe and easy there he's going to go for that again. ( His in- store experience has been frightening with no- one bothering with social distancing each visit though)

Is the Stafford Tesco the same procedure as sons good experience?

I'm not sure about any other click and collect procedures as today was my first experience of using this type of service from any supermarket.

I've used Tesco delivery when on holiday and they were really good and delivered the goodies straight to the fridge. The guy didn't actually load the fridge for me though unfortunately :)

Obviously they can't do this at the moment.

We availed ourselves of it a few weeks ago and it was fine on the whole.

The first stage - ordering - may take a couple of goes before you get it 100% to your liking. Maybe keep it simple at first. Our "problem" was carrots. Mrs Mikinton wasn't sure if she'd ordered "a" carrot or a kilo of carrots. So when we amended the order to add a few things, we deleted the "carrot" and ordered a small bag of them instead.

The second stage - collection - was easy. It was the one event in our diary and the high point of the week. We were scheduled for 10:00-12:00 so planned to get there about 10:10, but in the end, with no traffic on the road, we were probably there about 10:00, so there was a little bit of a queue. The guys operating it were pretty efficient. Not knowing the system, I got out and loaded the car myself from where they'd left the bags after bringing them out from their hut (so they may have loaded the car for me - I don't know). And we've got loads of plastic bags.

And the final stage - checking - was interesting. Both orders of carrots were there, and they probably weren't ones we'd have chosen if it had been us picking them off the shelves - so maybe stick to ordering things like cornflakes and baked beans. And the box of Lawn "Weed and Feed" was replaced by a box of grass-seed. I could have changed it (somehow) but decided to just leave it. (I've since used about half of it.)

With regards to in store shopping, Cannock Sainsburys has been the least stressful by far. Had to queue for about 20mins to get in but the wide isles and limited number of people inside made for a much less stressful time than Asda or Tesco. I haven't tried Lidl or Aldi

I did the click and collect last Thursday going to the usual place and all the bags were in the lockers. The only confusing bit was that you had to open the lockers in the order shown on the screen. We have another one tonight so will bear in mind what you said.

What had been odd is that for a good week there were no click and collect slots at all and suddenly they appear to have sprung into life...

I'll report back after tonight's trip...
