I remember it as a curry house - in fact i had my first curry there in what must've been c. 1987/88.

Agree. Definitely an Indian at some point. Remember picking up a takeaway there eating bombay mix whilst waiting. Circa 1994..

His son - or at least one of them, he may have had more - was a bit of a twat. A useful twat in some ways - i credit him, in part, for the valuable lesson of hopefully having avoided his manner of twatishness. It's always a benefit to learn from the mistakes of others, rather than of your own, if at all possible.
Hi. Would his son be Jason by any chance?

Remember I was part of a fire crew called out to a fairly minor kitchen fire when it was a food eating emporium of some description. Something and nothing, a recently fitted cooking unit had been badly fitted, and had lead to burning a wooden fitting. I carried out the hob by hand and placed it outside the back door, It had set off the smoke alarms, and the smell of combustion permeated the whole building! Dangerous job us fire fighters had to endure! Can;t remember which incarnation it was existing in at the time, but it was didn't last long, and it was fairly low key, understated and seemed to be geared more to drinking, entertainment and, definitely not fine dining! :ohno:

Googling Vicarage Farm, Zoopla / Post Office etc gives the postcode ST18 9JU, but google earth aerial view indicates the middle of a field. I might take a bike ride out there to check it out - substituting a tin foil hat for my cycling helmet and taking a theremin along :

Vicarage Farm seems to be a listed building & English Heritage give the following coordinates for it as
Latitude: 52.8075 / 52°48'27"N, Longitude: -2.2027 / 2°12'9"W, OS Eastings: 386435 OS Northings: 323348. OS Grid: SJ864233

Google will put the pointer for the post code in the middle of the post code area, that can be quite large in rural areas and the may not be on any of the properties in the area.
