On Friday I had my year end appraisal. I hate them at the best of times so took myself out to the garden. I had to create a shade for my laptop so I could see my boss though...

Then yesterday, before I could give him any jobs, the OH went down the garage and made this from a pallet.

As the weather picks up, I've done a bit more to the outdoor speakers. The mesh is intended to explain to local residents that they're not nest boxes.

I've also blocked the rear of the housing with chipboard discs, a nice 'dead' material. These were chamfered with the Shinto rasp, then the edges were taped to ease the insertion - they're battered into place now and will get a coat of paint, although the rear of the housings should be fairly well protected from the weather.

I just have to sort out the terminals, the mounting arrangements and actually run the wires out for them...

I've almost finished weeding the back, the beds either side of this south-facing seat are 'done' now, but they'll get a quick go over every few days for a bit.

I can't get over how neat you guy's gardens are. Doesn't God have any input ?? … he/she has lots of input into mine, and as far as I can see, neatness doesn't enter the equation !!!

(And who am I to argue with some vast eternal plan ?) :buddy:

With the weather being so nice husband took the day off and we went for a lovely walk.
Started off down the lane from our house but had to stop for a few minutes because of the traffic.

Carried on down the lane until we reached Teddersley Park.
Very lovely and hardly a soul about.

I'm declaring the back garden weeded, it's taken rather longer than I expected, but it's a bit more sheltered, which has been useful in the cool winds of late, though that had abated today. There's actually about 5% of odd corners left, but they won't get worse while I do the 75% of the front garden that remains to be done.

With the warmer weather, the shed door has been open and my assistant has taken to coming in to remind me about his feeding schedule.

The Lobelias may soon constitute a trip hazard.

All you gardening nerds have guilted me into this. So here I am at midday today doing some gardening.

Of course, what you have to realise this is the early stage .. planning and forethought. There has to be a full job appraisal, followed by integrated skills distribution systems and correctly timed work sub-routines assessment, all over-looked by a sound managerial structure, which must also see to the allocation of equipment resources, and put in place procedures for dealing with unexpected situations.

All this takes time, it'll probably be ready for commencement in say … November. Unfortunately if winter settles in a bit early, the plan must be postponed until next Spring … which may necessitate for full re-assessment of the entire plan.

I'm loving all these pictures of scarecrows. Some are very lifelike.
