Id expect generation z to be worst affected especially those on the lower end of the income ranges. but let's be honest many people will suffer from the economic fallout from the crisis. 1 in 9 people have had to ask for a mortgage repayment holiday. what happens once this holiday is over. unemployment expected to hit 3 million will these people be able to keep their head above water. everyone will feel the fallout from this crisis some worse than others.

Its just money, I'd still rather be alive living in my caravan and foraging for food than just let people die so that I don't miss a mortgage payment.

I grew up poor, and despite being comfortable now (although still poor compared to most) I'm not scared of going back to it.

I heard a stat on Radio 5 a week last Saturday, I believe, that out of all the deaths (probably around 12,000 at the time), only 11 were to people under the age of 45 with no underlying health condition - 9 men and 2 women.

As there's much talk of relaxing restrictions at the moment, I think the approach should be to focus on those areas of the economy affecting the young more*, and less about which geographical areas of the country seem to be recovering.

* - I haven't a clue which "areas of the economy affect the young more". Any suggestions?

Covid19 kills on average 3 years before they would of otherwise die so each death is equivalent to 3 life years so the estimate of 500,000 dead is equivalent to 1.5 million life years without a lockdown. If the lockdown measures reduces the life expectancy of the population by 1 year through reduced living standards caused by recession then 66.65 million life years would be lost or around 44 life years lost for every one saved. Death is death whether the death is visible or invisible and needs to be taken into account to mimimise the overall loss to the country.

Do you have any evidence you can link to to back this up? It would make interesting reading.

According to the daily mail, the figure is a bit different...

Just been reading up a study based on itilian data that put the figures at 11 - 13 years and this study includes all age ranges and shows that including younger ages in the figures really does push up the average although it still needs to be peer reviewed. If correct and could be extrapolated to the UK it would put life years lost at 55 million to 65 million life years lost but I'm still struggling to find any reliable data of the estimated recession deaths caused by covid19 mitigation measures. this is important data if your goal is minimising loss of life. But if the new study is more accurate it becomes more likely that the lockdown is a positive measure overall.

I’m surprised it was only 1/9. Only added a few quid to ours per month to do it. Due a remortgage in November too so will only see that extra few quid for a few months even if we can only do a product transfer

As a shielded person the government have decided to deliver food parcels to me, despite my best endeavours to get them stopped.

Today they struck under the cover of (almost) darkness; a knock on the door this morning and I got to the door just in time to see the van disappearing up the road; the time 06:30!!!!!
