Coronavirus.

It asks a lot of questions about drugs you may be taking, a lot of which I may be taking, which might be helping to find a vaccine to prevent covid. If it helps then I'm up for it. A tracker for me would be of no use, I'm in contact daily with 100's of people, I shop for elderly family members and 1 neighbour, I probably go out much more now, through necessity, than I did before covid. (because I'm an antisocial person).

The drug thing is interesting, I believe it's trying to work out if some offer resistance. Blood pressure tablets are known to suppress coronavirus' symptoms for example.
I'm on 3 types of those, plus aspirin and one other which it also asks about....

That's good to hear as me and hubby are both on them. I'm on 2 lots of blood pressure tablets.
They also found out that a lot of the people who have died have had blood clots, and now using blood thinners to treat.
Hubby is on blood thinners already. The ones he's on regulate themselves (rather than having to have regular blood tests on Warfarin ,which he used to be on, and adapting the dose accordingly.) Hopefully if he did catch coronavirus his blood thinners would kick in to help...

The questionaire linked to the test that I had didn't ask for medications. Just a big list of various ailments to tick if you have had them since November 2019 and had to say what months you had them. Amongst other questions like are you overweight, smoke etc.

Children are catching & dying from Covid linked Kawasaki Disease, therefore their deaths aren't counted in the Covid figures.
This is something that is still little understood - as things stand, even if it turns out to be something of relevance, this particular risk seems to be very much statistically insignificant. In the three-figures within the five-figures magnitude sort of thing.

Everything is always ultimately about understanding risk.

Part of the problem with a 'novel' virus is the gap between where we are now and the knowledge catching up with it - knowing things about it will take the kind of time that nobody has.

Do you think that if this was disproportionately taking our children from us we'd be a bit more freaked out about it?

It's a bit like the 'bomb dogs' skit on The Day Today - the people who were blown up were old, and would have died soon anyway, but the dogs were blown up in their prime...

Very few deaths are recorded as being due to Covid, they are due to pneumonia, heart attack or sometimes kidney failure. Covid is recorded as the underlying cause of the pneumonia ... I would have expected that in the case of Kawasaki the underlying cause of the disease should have been recorded as Covid.

Thankfully they’re having to ditch that one as Apple and Google don’t allow a device to obliterate your battery with background Bluetooth broadcasts. Now they’re looking at the way they’ve been offered (just added in iOS 13.5) of the phone storing all randomly cycling keys you come into contact with and getting told if any of them are infected down the line. Significantly more privacy conscious than the government’s central database approach

You got a link for this? Read a few articles today and all said it was still centrally processed, likely sloppy journalism but still seems to be the current consensus.

I read this (not in the Mirror) this morning...

https://www.mirror.co.uk/science/coronavirus-washing-your-hands-6-22055346

If you weren't washing your hands at least 3+ times (18) this a day before Covid, them what kind of dirty cretin are you? What has this country become that we have to tell people to wash their hands a minimum of 6 times?!

The problem with these 'journalistic' sites (and I'm being f****** polite to that trade on this one) is that they look for advertising above all else, go to the site and see for yourself.) To them, it's all about money. How can we frighten people and extract money in the process. Nothing else counts.

Journalism, I've shit it. (And on a minor scale I'll admit, I've done some trade in that business.)
