That is abroad, isn't it?

I certainly never understood a word anyone was saying when I lived there.
A friend of mine very rarely left his house. He had a friend who was a vicar and was determined to 'get him moving again'. One day, he proposed that he came with the congregation on a pilgrimage to Lindisfarne.

I arrived as the vicar was leaving, defeated.

My friend then told me of the vicar's scheme and how he had been able to refuse by simply announcing that he didn't have a passport.

Under interrogation, he revealed that his best guess for the location was somewhere in Italy.

Gone from a person who never ordered on line , and only had the delivery people knocking with other people's parcels, to having lots of deliveries of my own since lockdown started.
Having no choice but to get things delivered, have got the ordering bug and quite enjoying ordering everything in sight :D
Makes a difference not having to worry about waiting in for the deliveries now.... We're going nowhere at the moment !

Which explains why you now posses a 19th century antique commode, a device for extracting teeth from a tyrannosaurus (very carefully,) a flock of llamas, 17 pins leftover from grenades that have been thrown at Dominic Cummings and a handrail with suction cups for a hip bath. :heyhey:

Sounds a bit like what hubby is hoarding in in the loft ( got him to climb up so we could get rid of stuff in the skip I'd hired for my parents house clearance not long ago ....lots of junk failed to make it out of there...)
I thought I'd finally slung out the pins from his broken arm from his childhood days, but no,still there ...

This bloke thinks it's OK to spend a few hours every evening shouting his bloody head off from the top of the electricity pole.

We've had words about it, but I don't think I'm going to win this battle...
Mr Thrush started shouting at ten to four this afternoon.

As the daylight goes on a bit longer this far west, he has just finished - six and a half hours.

I shall be writing a stiff letter to the Council.

Of all the bloody mornings for the car to not start for the first time ever. Got a 6am-8am time slot for click & collect and bloody car won't start. Waiting for Green Flag now who estimate 7.19am arrival and Tesco customer line not open til 7am .

Thanks for the kind offer @Thehooperman . Messaged you back

With no taxis available to drive me to Tesco at 6am , but able to pick me up later from Click & Collect , dragged hubby out of bed to wait for Green Flag and walked down to Tesco . Nice Westside driver picked me and shopping back up and arrived home at same time as Green Flag arrived. Battery completely flat but when tested is ok and just lack of use (with only backing car out of garage to get the lawn mower and bin through , and a drive to the local garage for milk a couple of times since the start of lockdown.)

Just had a most enjoyable 26 mile drive to Pottal Pool and over the chase to Rugeley areas. Not been around those parts for years and enjoyed my leisurely drive out with hardly any traffic about for a change (holding my breath each time I had to stop at junctions incase it conked out again!). Amazed how many people were parked up on the chase car parks at 8am.

Was that to charge your battery or to test your eye sight?

Today I had to say sod it to social distancing, and drove to my youngest sisters home.
2 nights ago, she was bitted quite badly by one of her own dogs, on the right hand/arm. leg and foot. She was separating the pair of them cos they were fighting.
She lives at Bishops Offley - other side of Eccleshall.
Anyhows, I drove through Eccleshall, and you'd never know we were on lockdown.
The high street was full of people, the seats outside the cafe and new Bakehouse were packed.
I suppose if the PMs guru can do it, so can everyone else.

That’ll be what did it, you discharge a considerable amount from the battery when you start the engine, so the alternator then needs time to recharge. A short journey (especially down the drive) is the worst possible thing you can do to a battery really

Highly recommend grabbing a battery jump starter, Anker do one that will happily crank anything up to 200A, and it even beeps to tell you what’s going on and when it’s ready to try turning the engine over.

Personally I might use of of those in an emergency. But a simple low current battery charger connected up at least once a week for several hours if you're not using the vehicles is far better for the battery's life.

We used to have a battery charger for years, which came in very useful for the older batteries which seemed to keep going a lot before these more modern cars. Then we lent it to a neighbour a few years ago just before they moved house. The bloke offered to put it back on the high shelf in our garage for me once he'd finished to save me climbing up..... next time we came to use it we found he'd broken the leads and clips off

Had another drive on part of the route I went this morning, once hubby had finished work, to get the battery even more charged. What a different drive it was, not anywhere near as enjoyable as this mornings empty roads. Bloody white van men were a nuisance just inches behind .
Drove to 'somewhere' on the chase between Pottal Pool and Rugeley , not knowing where we were walking and only found the car again by recognising the shit bags and other rubbish we had previously passed. Nice to get out somewhere different for a change though :)
