Still off.... luckily filled the kettle and a few jugs after last time and refrained from watering the garden plants with them as they were looking a mess on the kitchen side, just incase it happened again,Still got the jugs for a cuppa if desperate (couple of days old , but in desperate times ...)

Seriously if you get stuck for water , bring some empty containers and I can socially distance fill them with water for you. :)

I also have an outside tap that supplies my hose should I not be around, feel free to help yourself :P

Welcome to my world, our water has been intermittent now for 4 days. Was off 15hrs Friday. All night last night and has been gone since about 4pm today. 5 people no flushing loo... it's not pretty. I've been storing some up after that as it became uncomfortable almost ran out of liquid for the kids.

I've never known a hosepipe ban around here, not in the 10 years I've lived here. We've had hotter weather than this as well. I can only assume that the extra houses in the area are making it worse.

Off for over 4 hrs here now , not good when replacing water with the old apple juice makes ' non flushing' loo trips more frequent

I've had a couple of bottles of home brew as a water replacement. I'm sure it will be back on in the morning, but definitely needs to be a hosepipe ban. I'm on a water meter so they don't get to charge me for water if I can't get any. They should be mandatory!

If anyone has access to anywhere in the tech park, the water is still on up there. We just filled up some containers from our office (water filtered, thankfully, as the tech park water is hard to the point of being white)

We haven't got a meter, so paying full whack for no supply.
Have you not considered complaining?
These are the morons often seen p1ssing up the outside wall of the their ( privately rented..poor landlord...) house regularly. Flouting every lockdown rule since it began. Don't answer if I knock about anything.

I imagine that the rules are the same now, but "hosepipe bans" used to be just that - thou shalt not use a hosepipe - this included using a hosepipe to siphon bathwater out into the garden.

I never understood the whole hosepipe ban thing. I can understand not wasting water on toys and water fights, but surely a watering can is still going to use a load of water, but with more effort? You’re still going to water them as much as needed after all.

Or is it more of a case of not using a hose with an appropriate attachment being the problem? Most hose guns basically output at the same rate as a watering can, but I wouldn’t like to try using a can to water our entire border and dwarf fruit trees...

People won't put the effort in with a watering can - you can just leave a hosepipe running, or put a sprinkler on it. It would take a lot of people with cans, making a lot of effort, to keep up with one person with a hose just standing there - or sitting watching the telly in the house....

If you really want to see what the difference is, place an empty wheelie bin half-way across the garden and fill it with a hose, timing how long that takes, then empty it and see how long it takes you to fill it using a watering can.

Takes us a hell of a long time giving our garden plants a drink. Watering can under tap, and waiting to fill, walk back out, water, back in , tap on and wait til it fills again..... I spend hours a day, as well, tipping a few inches of water out of the washing up bowl onto each plant in turn as the bowl needs emptying after peeling potatoes, washing salad , washing hands and washing up etc (probably explains why my plants aren't thriving.....don't think they appreciate a dosing with Fairy liquid . I don't subject them to Domestos) .

YAY! Loo has just this minute started refilling with water

So basically it's not a case of wanting people to not use a hose, it's hoping people are too lazy to water their plants properly.

Given what @Gramaisc said above, you're probably using the same amount of water as if you were using a hose anyway as you're putting the effort in... why not just go buy a cheap one?

It's about reducing the amount of water used.

Hoses allow, and even encourage, a much greater use of water when it's in short supply, and aren't used a lot when it isn't in short supply.

Some people don't have hoses as they don't have an outside tap and repeated use of a hose from an indoor tap will catch up with you at some point...
