Had my MOT reminder from FMS yesterday along with an additional letter explaining that due to the MOT extension it isn't due. They also explained that Stafford is now 2 MOT centres short due to closures and they expect the back end of the year to be very busy in respects to Getting an MOT appointment.

Mine was due first week of July. Now means getting it done around christmas time or first few days of New Year by the looks of it(Know how difficult that was getting sons booked into our usual garage when his was due at start of January this year, with christmas and new year hols...)
Going to be the usual MOT's which would have been due, plus the extended ones.

Although MOT dates are currently being extended by 6 months, you can still get your car MOTd now, or at any time before the new expiry date. You don't have to wait until the bitter end and then find you can't get a slot.

Indeed for anyone with an older car, getting it MOTd as normal would probably be a good idea in order to spot any potential defects before they cause a serious issue.

A lot of people have the awkwardness of tax*, insurance and MOT all occurring in the same month - I've long considered doing my MOT early, to remove it from the financial congestion period. Now, as long as 'the elite' don't suddenly rescind the extension, I can let it drag back a bit. It could go back into the "No Council Tax or Water Rates" period.

And I'm only doing a steady 28 miles per week, too.

* Even more so now that the tax can't be transferred.

Ive always taken mine in 30 days before its due , saves any hassle should i need any work doing.

The one im test driving next week will come with 12 months MOT and they dont release any of their cars with any advisories on the MOT so should be pretty painless.
Road tax for the new one will only be £20 a year too , so thats a saving on the £120+ i had been paying.

I take mine in as soon as I can before it's due as well, just incase they have to wait for a part for a week or so, which has happened in the past.
Road tax expires end of June and MOT was 6th July. Just retaxed at £20 for the year again. (Reminded me on the website whilst doing it to check 3 days before the MOT expiry date to make sure it has been extended correctly.)

Just to confirm, Maccees drive through on Kingsmead was open this afternoon. Took me 3 red lights to get onto Kingsmead carpark at about 2 this afternoon for what was meant to be a quick nip into town. Lots of folks in cars on the carpark enjoying their gourmet takeaway meals.
Guess who completely forgot about the BLM protest?? All those wankers wearing masks but completely disregarding social distancing. Any bets on a bit of a spike in infections in about 10 days. I hope the (what looked like) British Legion folks protecting the memorials in town were all ok & successful.

The event was impeccable and a not a single incident nor issue.

Social distancing was not an issue either and everyone respected it and each other. A great advert for the town and the cause.

there will be no spikes from yesterdays event, if there are any spikes it will because of all the twats who cannot resist having to be out and about because of a few rays of sunshine.
