I went passed the vauxhall garage today and it was being fully secured. Seems an odd time to do it now, its been closed for years.

I'm surprised this site hasn't been bought by a house builder.
It probably has changed hands recently and the new owners securing his asset.

Looks like works about to start on the old job centre, a big fence is being put up round the building.

Either that, or it's to deter break-ins.

A note on the Holmcroft Wards Matters Facebook page says although the sale of the building fell through the current owners are going ahead with the plans to turn it into flats.

A reminder of the planning proposal is here and it's for 51 apartments

Handy for the pub though .... (Although I haven't been in that pub since dinosaurs ruled the Earth.)

Took this in August 2018 because for some reason I can't explain this view reminded me of similar views in the USA, although bars in the states tend not to look much like the Waggon.

Who would want to live here, next to a stinky garage and by a dual carriageway. It's a sh*t hole area!

Easy route to the motorway and there's not that many other 1bed developments around with parking. There's a gym, some shops and more pubs not that far. I know plenty of motorway commuters that would suit perfectly. It's also close to the marshes and town too. Just because it doesn't suit what you need to live in and around doesn't mean it's not perfect for sometime else.

And if the prices are right they'll work as the perfect stepping stones to living somewhere else.

Due to possibly the biggest depression we have ever witnessed looming , I reckon they would be snapped up if they become rentals.

My original point still stands. They should raze the ugly thing off this earth and build something decent.

I know it won't be popular, but, apart from its current cosmetic state, I quite like the "Gerry Anderson" style of the building, with its underfloor parking.

I would be so tempted to have a chute to slide down from my penthouse suite and drop into the driver's seat through the sunroof.
