You're my age, more or less so no excuse.

This, what @proactive said.

The age thing, and doing what you want.

I know people my age that consider themselves “old”, their lifestyle is old, they don’t go anywhere or do anything, and I’ve got friends 30 years older than me (Lovely Norman), that consider themselves “young” , they live live to the full, do what they want..

Surely, if we’ve learned anything about coronavirus, or lockdown, or whatever, it’s to do what you want to now, live for the moment.

Met a chap yesterday, 76 years old. Took a day off from his job as a builder/ roofer to come to Mrs T's cousins funeral. Said cousin worked as a builder up until feeling a bit unwell just over a fortnight ago, would have been 77 on Monday.

you are right i agree.

ive had a few age related health conditions creep in this last year but thinking about it , its more related to my lifestyle rather than age.

My father in law puts me to shame though , hes 80+ and never stops , if hes not up and down ladders , helping someone in need or doing some sort of home improvement , hes out on his electric bike.... he never stops.

Never too early to start either, I'm way more active in my 40s than I was in my 30s. Or 20s for that matter!

When i moved here around 7 years ago i was a gym bunny having stuck to a strict plan i had lost over 6 stone.
Being a carer and my wife's condition worsening , i found myself more housebound than i was initially , i eventually needed to cancel my gym membership.
This in turn caused my weight gain.
... im one of those people that does eat moderately , however i am also aware my fat and sugar intake needs to be strictly controlled otherwise the weight piles on no matter how many cals i burn.

i will be returning to the gym once things improve , i miss the rush it gave and mentally i was much happier.

I can't get the hang of gyms, I just feel out of place and quite self conscious.

I felt like that initially.
At the time i was 19 stone and resembled jabba ( star wars) , dripping with sweat and that was just getting there and changed lol.
i went from being in there 20 mins to 3 hour sessions almost daily.
The self conscious feeling just went away after a few weeks for me and i never really thought of it after that.

I'm far from fat, quite the opposite, I just feel odd and never seem to know what I'm doing. I guess thats why I like running, it's a solitary thing.

I remember from when you visited to take some slabs a few years back , you are deffo not fat but im about twice the size i was then :embarrass:.

I think what it was for me is that i had set myself a lot of goals to complete that i was oblivious to what was going on around me.
I had a PT so i knew what i had to do and a time limit to complete it in.
i'm the opposite , although i tend to keep myself to myself , i felt more at home at the gym than outside.

i guess the air conditioning helped too ;)

Youth is a mindset to an extent. Our neighbour is a sparky, he’s *mumbles* years old but still active as anything, constantly working in his van and going out to jobs, and more than happy to work in our low-pitch roof. The other day he was asking me for advice on what components to buy for building a new desktop, and at one point enquired about buying a VR headset - mostly to fly around Google Earth VR...

Answered a knock on the door to find a dishy young man pointing out the food and drinks on the doorstep. Insisted it was my number house, so had to get him to check the persons name on the order incase son had secretly ordered it for us..... wrong house . (Good job son hadn't warned me to expect a surprise delivery like he sometimes does , or I'd have just took that one in and scoffed it and next door would have gone without their tea )
