Received an email from my hairdressers (Francesco, Bridle Rd) to ring for an appointment. Left my number for a call back. Recorded message says they will be opening 7 days a week from the 4th July, instead of the usual 6 days.

Book asap , its gonna be very busy i reckon :)
Hoping everyone will be wanting July appointments, as I'm planning on hanging on til August. Going to need the extra weeks for my hacked at fringe to grow back to be able to do something with it. First self fringe trim went to plan. Second one went sort of wrong ,and attempts to rectify went even wronger . :o . (Son put my attempts at hubbys hair right last weekend. He wouldn't attempt a rescue job on mine though, too many missing chunks  )

Great respect for the hairdressers and barbers out there! Not as easy as they make it look...

Are beauty salons allowed to open up from 4th July as well? Could do with a visit there soon, once the waxed off skin on my now sore forehead (which wasn't intended to be waxed at the time , along with a few more chunks of fringe ) has grown back.

Enjoying a drop of red.

Casa reopens on July the 4th, not as the Casa we know, but in a limited form as a bar. Should be interesting, as they've pushed the government guidelines to the limit here.

Kenny's is also reopening.

Walked though town earlier, interesting contrasts between little shops and big shops (Too Fat Goblins can have 1, Holland and Barrett can have 4 customers in, TKMaxx can have 104), one way system in the guildhall, lots of queues outside of banks but none I could see in shops. Lots of hand sanitizer around but very few people in masks, but little or no actual distancing. Despite all of this town seemed 'busy' for a Monday morning? It will be interesting to see how this changes after 'Super Saturday'....

From Bod Stafford

. . . Not long to go until we open on Saturday . . ! Just a few things to tell you . . .

We will be CLOSED on Friday 3rd July, so that we can rearrange bod again and get everything set up ready for Saturday

Our opening times will also be changing slightly, hopefully on a short-term basis. We’ll now open at 9am in the morning instead of 8am, and service will finish at 10pm instead of 11pm Sunday to Thursday. Still 11pm on a Friday and a Saturday.

We’ll be accepting card payment ONLY at the moment.

We’re taking bookings for 1hr45min slots with a maximum group size of 6, and following government guidelines of only two households or ‘bubbles’ per booking. Drop us an email on bodstafford@titanicbrewery.co.uk to book, with the preferred time and date, the number in your group and whether you’re planning on eating or drinking.

Finally. Please bear with us. It’s a bit of a step into the unknown for us, so there may be teething problems. If there are, we’ll do our best to sort them as quickly as we’re able.

See you all soon!

WE’RE BACK // Yes, finally we are back to doing what we love. Open from Saturday 4th July and our online booking diary is OPEN NOW!

Welcome back everyone! The past few months have been really challenging for our small independent business, but we’re still here.

Whilst it may not be “business as usual” just yet, we have worked hard to ensure you can come and dine or drink with us in a safe way, so here’s all the information you need to know before visiting

To start off with we will be open as follows:
Wed-Thur 5pm -11pm (Serving food 5-9.30)
Fri & Sat Noon-11pm (Serving food Noon-9.30)
Sunday Noon-10pm (Serving food Noon-6)

Those wishing to dine with us must BOOK IN ADVANCE either using our online booking system or by giving us a call

If you’re just popping in for a drink there is no need to book. We will have tables allocated for drinking but when these are full, that’s it. No one else will be permitted entry until a table becomes available. We hope you understand

And that’s it really, please stay alert and respect other customers when you visit but most importantly, come out and support your local and have fun!

See you VERY soon!

So the good news we’ve all been waiting for....

We will be re opening this Saturday 4th July.

As usual, we will be open from 3pm until 3am. But obviously there’s a few things to remember.

1. Please, if you’re not feeling well, don’t come out.
2. You’ll need to enter, as usual, through the main double doors but please make sure that you leave through the side ‘gig’ door, follow the single direction traffic.
3. Make sure you’re keeping your 1m distance from people, the tables and booths are all good distances from each other.
4. There’s indoor and outdoor seating so fingers crossed that the sun has got his hat on.
5. On entry, you will be met my a member of staff who will need to take your name and contact number. This temporary record will be kept for 21 days so that you can be contacted if there is a breakout of localised coronavirus.
6. You can still order at the bar, it isn’t banned, but drinking at the bar is.
7. We will be doing table service and contactless payment is encouraged.

Just had a call from my hairdressers to make my appointment. Informed of a few of their new conditions...

Must only arrive at appointment time
£5 extra Covid-19 sanitation charge added to each bill
No hot or cold drinks supplied , but can take your own if you want.
If you take a coat it has to be placed in a plastic bag whilst there.

(Couldn't hear anymore as my phone played up .)

That's Francesco's for you.

Yeah, they aren't cheap to begin with. Went in there for a bleach and dye quote for the wife and walked out with something like £160+ quoted.

We use NVS, was much cheaper.

Whilst I appreciate there are costs involved that sounds a little steep?
As I understand from our haidresser she has had to buy a complete second set of equipment so that one set can be sterilized while the other is in use, plus protective clothing that can be changed between customers. Plus for salons the need to sanitise the area between customers. This does bring extra costs to be recovered.

In any ongoing project, there can come a time when escalating maintenance costs will get to the point where just scrapping it and starting again, with a newer device, can begin to look more economically viable.
