I had a horrible time today, customer absolutely refused to move away from me to the designated packing place at the end of the till (3rd one this week to refuse to stand 2 meters away) a lot of throwing of goods & shouting about not conforming to our stupid rules occurred, which ended in my refusing to serve the customer and walking away.

People do not care one little bit. Protect yourself as well as you can, as everyone else is just thinking about themselves.
Son said in his place most customers , especially the youngsters, are abiding by the new rules with no argument since they opened back up last week. But one old bloke refused point blank to go out of the 'out' way. Said he was going out of the 'in' way no matter what! Son told him he was putting himself and other customers at risk, but other than grabbing him and marching him out of the one way system (which of course he's not allowed to do) he had to watch as the bloke walked closely past everyone and out of the 'in' door. :ohno:

I can't see the point of the screens in the local Co-op though. I stood outside watching through the window ( as hubby went in to buy strawberries, then came out with a bag full of his kind of stuff and no strawberries  ) observing people paying at the tills. Everyone had to lean around the screen to pay , then stand at the open side of the till leaning over towards the till assistant whilst reaching to pack their shopping. Wouldn't have felt very safe if I'd have been behind that till!

With regard to paying the strange thing is I haven't hit the hole in the wall since the lockdown began. I just checked my wallet and therein is sixty quid in pristine hole in the wall notes. Have just used a credit or debit card to pay for everything on a chip swipe. But today in Sainsbury's I was required to enter the card and put in the PIN number which the lady assured me happens now and again as a security measure. (Bloody good job I could still remember the number !!!)

There's a down side. When I got my credit card bill last month my pelvis exploded !!! :o:gonk::facepalm:

So Leicester infections weren't included in the government figures because they only include positive tests in a hospital, but the tests carried out outside of hospitals are counted in the government figures for number of tests done. Why count the tests but not the results?

Tests are good.

Positive results are bad.

Because people shouldn’t be using cash if they can help it, and for 90% of the populace that is entirely possible.

I don't believe any of the figures that come out of the mouths of this government. 'Skewed' isn't a good enough word. "Excreted Matter from the back end of a Bull" would be a far better definition.
Hancock ... the 'Health Secretary' was boasting a few weeks ago about being a "trained economist." A f****** bean counter !!! or in his case, a 'has been counter.'
It would be true irony if it wasn't so sad. :grr:

This is to use the chip & pin/contactless machines on the main tills , which are just behind the screens. You have to lean around to put the card on/in the machine. (The ones on the kiosk selling the ciggies etc are ok as those are facing the customer on the outside of the screen)

(I use my contactless card all the time nowadays, and gave it hubby to use last night as he's still waiting for his to arrive in the post to replace his chip & pin only one)

That’s... dumb. But not surprising. Supermarkets seem to adamantly refuse to upgrade card readers, even just moving them it seems. Asda is still using their old ones despite renovating their checkouts entirely.

A reminder, if people need it, that all sorts of other things are carrying on regardless on the pandemic...

The chap has been a steady rock in the Republic's response and must take credit for producing a rather better response than on the island to the east.

He did have the advantage of having to deal with a Taoiseach who was a GP and Health Minister who really cared - the new Taoiseach is the chap who woke up one morning seventeen years ago and thought "Bugger it! I'm going to ban smoking", so we can hope things will carry on much the same.

Just reading about the quarantine and spotted this gem:

"The most popular holiday destinations to be omitted from the list include Portugal, the US and Sweden, which have been deemed by the Government not to have a sound enough grip on their coronavirus infection rate."

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/20...ies-exempt-without-list-air-bridges-news/amp/

That we can say that about anyone is frankly hysterical.

I understand that the UK rules about Portugal do not include the Azores and Madeira, it's the mainland only.

I was having government updates on Portugal, Azores and Madeira in the earlier days of the Pandemic , as we'd booked for Portugal. Had a message informing the were closing off Azores and Madeira from visitors earlier on , as they didn't have any/or many cases (can't remember which) at the time. Yet still able to get into Portugal at that time.

I also got similar updates, azores from previous visits and Madeira as I'd been planning one. They appear to have made the right choices, but being islands its easy to do that. Well, apparently, unless you're the UK!

I had to collect a birthday pressie for a friend’s daughter today from the Argos in Sainsburys and whilst there I did a little shopping at the same time.

I experienced the most stress free and pleasant shopping trip since lockdown.

There was hardly anyone in the shop (just after 09.00) and those that were there were very respectful of distancing and waiting.

The staff were well organised and helpful and made me feel very safe in the current environment.

Thank you to all involved I say :)

It appears me reporting my stiff neck as muscle pain has triggered a test in the ZOE app.
