400 mile day today. Drove down this morning to check what post had come through at the house and to pickup a few bits and bobs, then drove down to Henry's Car Barn in Warwickshire to have a gander at a few things. Then a quick pitstop at Warwick Services for a charge and a coffee, followed by driving to work. Then a run out to Bishops Castle and finally a blast back to Formby.

Think I need a holiday...
Have you started the distillery tour without us? :cops:

I absolutely love my husband. I do honestly.

But he’s been working from home since March.
Busy too, from early morning until whenever. He’s got clients all over the place, wanting everything done now.

So for the last four months, I heard the conversations, every conference call, the zoom calls, the delicate negotiations, the way his world worked.

But today, he had to go to Birmingham to firstly go to the office but later take part in a Birmingham on line awards ceremony.
(This should have been in March, a real black tie event, I’ve got a gorgeous long dress hanging unworn in the wardrobe).

So, for the first time in 4 months I’ve had the house to myself.
I’ve absolutely loved it, I can’t express in words how much I’ve enjoyed it.
Total peace, tranquility, and being able to put the vacuum cleaner on in the day time. (Which I didn’t, but I liked knowing that I could if I wanted to.)

I did watch it online, very proud of hubby.

I know exactly what you mean, but from a slightly different angle.... For all those weeks I have gone to work, husband furloughed and mimime off school... every single day I have come home to someone in the house, the house was never empty. I found it very difficult as I quite like my own company and some solitude & peace and quiet every now and again...

Although husband is now back at work, he now works different hours, and is always under my feet in the morning. I've only had 2 afternoons to myself since March, both very cherished!

I'm doing far better than I expected with the OH being at home. For as long as I've known him he's always worked away at least 2 nights a week. It's nice to have a slightly more normal life, we get stuff done throughout the week rather than cramming it all into the weekends.

The benefits of him working from home have been great.

He finishes work, we have dinner.

As opposed to, he finishes work, But no, a client suddenly wants something doing.
He missed the train, or latterly when he stopped taking the train, he got stuck in traffic.
Evening meal quite often late, ruined, etc.

So the days have been different, but the evenings have definitely been better.

Thinking about it slightly differently, it must be awful for people who live on their own, and usually rely on visits from friends & family in normal times, they must have been so lonely.
..

Yes, it depends on the personality.
My friend Norman, 95, is climbing the walls. He was here, there and everywhere, every day, every evening doing something.
Coffee mornings, lunches, theatre, cinema, concerts.
He misses people and events, lockdown was hard.

My cousin Margaret, 79, is in her element. Loves her own company, she can do what she wants, paint to her hearts content without worrying about having to answer the door. She’s been in her own lockdown since her husband died, only venturing out once a week, so lockdown was easy for her.

But yes, it must be hard for people who rely on company to be suddenly deprived of it.

I was hoping hubby would be venturing back to the office soon. But his boss doesn't want to move him back in, then find we go back into lockdown and have to move all the computer and phones etc back here again. Took ages to set it all up , and I have some rather dusty plugs and wires that I'm itching to attack with the duster and polish, but daren't incase they get dislodged and we can't get working again.
But kind of got used to stepping over the cable across the lounge carpet, and hoovering in several seconds bursts inbetween phone conversations.

A customer did ask last week if he was by an airport as they could hear a plane taking off ... The clothes dryer,..Oops .

But finding it frustrating trying to tidy the house with him following behind untidying it all .
Looking forward to when he does return to the office, and work trips away , so we can get back to some sort of normality. I'm quite happy in my own company in the daytime and when he's abroad for a few days. Can't see those trips away happening anytime soon though!
Will be glad to get the dining room table back, and putting the heating on when I want (he's always hot and wanting an icy blast blowing through the house) when he's back in the office .But I'll miss the car ...

Despite turning grey very fast these past 18 weeks , celebrating being married 38 years today :)

Just had a phone call from 01637 013916 asking if I had been involved in a car accident that wasn’t my fault.

I replied that I had been involved in such an accident and the lady got more and more excited as I answered her questions about what had happened and what my injuries were.

This continued for a good 20 minutes or so and then for some strange reason she abruptly cut me off when I answered her question of when it happened and whether I had been awarded any compensation. I only told her the truth that it was 1983 and I won enough compensation to fit out the house we had just moved into, in Wordsley, with completely new furniture and fittings.

Oh well it wasn’t my phone bill I was wasting :)

Saw a sign on Sainsburys Car Park. It will be closed from 16.30 - 06.00 on the 26th of this month. Gawd knows what they're going be doing, and I am just grateful I shall be at work that night!

Maybe they're changing the entrance back?
