Today I Heard.....

Whilst staying in the lovely city of Derby by the sea tonight I heard a girl in her twenties talking to her grandparents reminiscing about how she remembered going with Granny for Granny's appointment at the local methadone clinic.

A few pints later the whole pub heard Granny effing and blinding like there's no f*!?ING tomorrow.

'Today was a rubbish day, furlough ended and I had to go back to work. It's not really fair.'

To which my reply was well you should be grateful you've actually got a job to go back to and that people like me have been subsidising you to sit around at home doing feck all for the last God knows how long.

He may no longer consider me to be a mate after that :hmm:

I've loved furlough! Did some work on the house, extra time for running, spent half of August in Wales, generally got to chill out for a bit and as I started seeing someone in January it's been nice to spend some decent time with them. I've paid tax since I was 16 with less than 3 months in total between all my jobs, and as I have no kids and am very healthy I think I'm a net contributer as far as tax goes so have no issues with taking something back for once. Makes a nice change!

On the flip side it's becoming more and more likely I won't have a job to return to, so I've been putting a chunk of that furlough money away to cover my mortgage if it all goes to shit.

I do understand what you're saying and there are people who've taken the piss (including my own family) but at the end of the day I can afford to support those less fortunate than me at the moment and I'm sure (hopefully )that it will swing around should I be in a position to need the input from others in times to come.

I don't think some people realise how hurtful things they say can be, some people were happy to be furloughed, some people were happy and treated it as a glorified HOLIDAY with benefits, some people didn't want to be furloughed.... And some people HAD to work through, and didn't have any choice....

At the end of the day, it was all for the greater good of everyone... But, I came into contact with lots of people who were furloughed and supposed to be shielding, but treated it like some kind of glorified all inclusive holiday, where they could do & go where they wanted, it was so disheartening to see people abusing the system, when they had the chance to stay safe.

My carer was furloughed, I thought this a bit unfair as he's younger & fitter than me, and I did offer to swap with him at any time, sadly he didn't take me up on the offer though.... However, I did receive lovely home cooked meals (probably a stone in weights worth) which was worth its weight in gold...

I haven't been furloughed, I've worked my normal shifts and done extra. Covered for those that had had the virus, and for those who fancied a cheeky day or two off.
This afternoon, I was thumped on the chin by a patient who didn't know or understand what they were doing, they also gave a colleague a bloody decent black eye, ruining her good looks.
3 nights ago, there wasn't a single mental health bed available in the Midlands, the powers that be were looking for beds in Reading and further afield. Now people have recovered from the effects of the Coronavirus, it seems their mental health problems have come to the surface.
It really pisses me off when I see crowds of people, not 1 mask between them and no social distancing.

No, but I know someone who helps out at Slimming World!

Oh I've got no problem with the furlough scheme at all, just this guy's attitude.

I furloughed myself twenty seven years ago on this Thursday.

I doubt I would have coped otherwise.

It would have just been a matter of what colour uniform took me away...
At least they don't wear white coats anymore...........................
