I saw this today on the road between Acton Trussell and Bednall.
What on earth is wrong with people?
They can manage to load it into a van but can’t be bothered to go as far as the tip.
It’s disgraceful to just be so selfish, no thought for others or respect for the countryside.
People like that make my blood boil.

I suspect that they've paid someone to dispose of it that didn't want to pay the business rate for using the tip. Wonder if there is anything identifiable down the sides of the seats, someone else managed to dump a load of rubbish that included their driving theory test printout the other day (so very easy to track, if they can be bothered).

Yes, I saw that, with the shoes....

The bottoms of the sofas have been cut open - first rule in furniture collection, money, phones and all sorts end up down there.... So I'm told.

... (well, yesterday, actually) some exotic motors, as I proceeded along the B4396 here, where it, belying its title, is barely more than a single-track lane.

As I approached, I noticed some sort of Ferrari-like device nosing out from the side-road and decided to let him out, then also yielding to the nine or ten other similar vehicles that followed, mostly so that they wouldn't be embarrassed, if they failed to keep up with me.

I did squeeze off a picture of the final two, careful to focus on the windscreen surround, so as to blur their number plates, of course.

Earlier, I had seen this - which did seem like the worst of both worlds, really.

Whereabouts is that on the B4396?

I used to drive along the B4396 between Nescliffe and Penybontfair via Knockin and Llynclys en route to my caravan at Llangynog and it was wide enough for two cars all the way.

It's on the section from Vyrnwy to Penybontfawr.

A caravan in each direction on there would be interesting.

That junction, not the narrowest bit, by a long way, is about half a mile WSW* of Penybontfawr.

Giving that bit of road a B classification is a bit ambitious.

* the 'back arrow' on the 'view' should take you back to the map.

Ah ok, I know where you mean now and yes the "lane" is very narrow around Hirnant. The tall hedges and lack of passing places don't help either.

There were often conflicts between local farm traffic and tourist coaches en route to/from Lake Vyrnwy with neither party willing to reverse to a suitable passing place.

I'm not sure where your Ferrari like cars would be coming from because I think there are only farms on the road where they came out from.

Enjoying a drop of red.

The rearmost car looks like a Lotus Exige or possible an Evora. The bike thing is an abomination.

... that a friend of mine had made the national news.

He arrived at a local match, merely to deliver the team strip to the players, and found that only twelve had turned up. Two rules became important at this stage - there had to be a minimum of thirteen on the pitch at the start - and, there was no upper age limit for the competition in hand.

So he 'volunteered' to play in goal - and quite successfully, it seems.

Despite being two players down, they won 8-08 to 2-02 - and neither goal was really his fault - one was a penalty and he had palmed the other onto the post and back out, but an opposing player got to it first.

Not bad for 72 - they might keep him on for the next round?

Carole,
We didn't get that before Thatcher said "And, you know, there is no such thing as society".

Carole,

I honestly don’t know what politics has got to do with fly tipping and I find the above quote beyond ridiculous.

My parents lived on the edge of a rather nice wood in Tittensor and I remember the village then had a short term problem with fly tipping when I was a child in the 1960’s.
You might want to blame Margaret Thatcher for many things but please be realistic, and honest.
