It's only as accurate as the information it has. My daughters school has had a case that shut that class bubble, it's not on there. Nor was it reported in the press like all the other schools that have cases. I suspect it's supposed to be hush hush so as not to panic folks that even the ultra careful Special schools are vulnerable. We are still awaiting her test results, maybe in the next couple of days.
I wish now I'd recorded the horrible ordeal of having to hold down a screaming terrified disabled teenager whilst trying to stick a swab down her throat and up her nose, while she tries to fight you off. Then force all the selfish f'kers out there to watch it and see the consequences of their actions.

My OH is in the same boat, her new boss wants her to do things in excel that she'd find challenging in SQL. They won't even give her access to the real data, she has to download pre filtered/grouped reports from power BI to work from!

I remember a case in the mid '80s where a colleague had produced a prediction, on paper, of what was likely to happen and this should define our pre-emptive response. He produced a hand-drawn graph which made things pretty clear.
He was completely correct, but "we're not convinced by this evidence and it requires more work before we can commit to that course of action".
Over the couple of hours before 'they' decided to meet again, he got the computer to print out his graph, using his calculated figures.
This turned his 'vague conjecture' into a 'computer prediction' and therefore, essentially, 'fact'.
A lot of people think the basics are beneath them.

Just sitting in a pub and there were three girls on the table next to me.
They put masks on to go for a cigarette and on the return en route to the loo but wore them as chin straps on their return to their table.
They were also wandering around the pub with no masks on and when they left none of them bothered with the masks.
I asked them why they weren't wearing them and got three replies - we don't need to, I've lost mine and it's non of your business.
When I challenged them that they all had masks 10 minutes prior and it is my business because it is a legal requirement for all of our health and I would like to keep the pubs open I just got a volley of verbal abuse.
I feckin despair!!!!

J&J is a one time only but they started their process later
However, the Serum Institute ( India ) have said end of 2024, beginning of 2025 minimum time span before enough vaccines can be produced for the populous

They’ve been producing ones that are on trial for ages, pretty sure it’s not a production issue for that 30mil, it’s a deployment issue.
I don’t think many on this forum have much cause for concern though: it’ll be key workers, the vulnerable, and then as much of the working populous as possible I suspect. It’ll be driven by getting the economy back up and running.
Something like 20% of the country is under 18, they won’t get it for a while I imagine - not necessarily the best idea but remember who runs the country.

We're not having a conversation at all.
There hasn't been a new Government strategy - the last thing they published was alert levels in June, and according to that we should be in lockdown.
And we haven't heard anything since.
Really good contact tracing can let you have a reasonable normal life - currently with the testing system the way it is, we can't have that.

The vaccine is proposed to be dished out in 11 waves. under 18's will not get it along with none venerable under 50's care workers and care homes will be some of the first to get it. The reason not to vaccinate half the population is the risk of covid is so low vaccinating these people could tip the risk benefit scales the other way
