When I first went into the Caribbean in the 60's they used to have a saying about Hurricane Season:

June too soon. July standby. August is a must. September remember. October all over.

Pretty sure that one's gone down the tubes in recent years as the seas get warmer.

Hurricane Delta ... (they're having to use Greek letters now.)

We went in late February (2006), was told (when we got there) that it was the end of hurricane season ....every day was absolutely beautiful, but each night there was torrential rain, winds that it was hard to stand up in, and it was cold, really cold (double jumper cold) at night. But there were none of the noisy animals (cicadas?). I think we went at the best time.

A black Volkswagen T4 or T5. Blacked out windows, tear arsing up the Newport Roat with flashing blue lights and a siren going.
Talk about plain clothes policing.

That sounds like what I was referring to here -

Although, I saw it in daylight and it was dark blue. I only spotted it because it was parked in a layby and they had got out to stretch their legs, but there was no other vehicle and they certainly hadn't walked that far from anywhere.

If there had been a car there, I wouldn't have thought twice about it.

Not long after that, they pulled a speeder outside my house with it.

You must feel such a fool to have fallen for that...

A bit like this, where Mr Audi tries to bully his way past a knackered old Ford.

It was probably Navy Blue. I only gave it a cursory glance. Wonder how much tinkering went on under the bonnet of it?

I understand that it's an urban myth that police cars are 'souped up' in any way.
Modern performance cars have enough poke already.

That tanker currently in the news off the Isle of Wight is currently reported on the BBC News site as:

"The 240ft-long (73m) ship is known to have left Lagos in Nigeria on 5 October and is currently situated south of the Isle of Wight."

I have to tell you it looks a hell of a lot bigger than that to me. (I wonder if the BEEB have a job for a Marine Consultant on news events. :P)

Shame Lord Stafford couldn't be bothered to pay to have the container at the bottom of the old overflow car parking area, which is currently being used as a drugs den, removed as well

"Following the recent appalling terrorist attacks in Europe, the UK terror threat has been raised from ‘substantial’ to ‘severe’ as a precautionary measure. This threat level moving to SEVERE means it is highly likely that a terrorist attack could happen in the UK, but it is important to stress that the change is not based on a specific threat."

How do substantial & severe relate to the old black special & amber system?
