Been off work since last Tuesday with a very painful lower back. Feels like I've been kicked from one end of Sainsburys car park to the other.
Thanks to a conversation with @littleme , I've discovered the Deep Heat patches are the best thing since sliced bread, it's like having a portable radiator stuck to my back.
I can now put my socks and shoes on without screaming the place down or taking 10 minutes to ''walk'' my toes up the bed so I can reach my feet.
Apologies to anyone stuck behind me in traffic, every lump, bump and pot hole don't half hurt at times.
Same goes for anyone in Sainsburys, I can't walk very fast at the mo x
I've had bad back pain since last October, I was only signed off by the physiotherapist last Monday, after I convinced him I can 'manage' the pain.... Guess whose back in pain after sitting round like a lump all day yesterday.

Deep heat will make a fortune off us pair!

Every sympathy with you there, back pain is much underestimated. Take care of yourself.

Can sympathise with back pain, I spent a decade with sporadic pain til a physio realised it was really my legs. Turns out my badly planned cycle to wales in my early 30s had buggered up my hamstrings!

Dear God!

I have just managed to submit my tax form online. I normally do it on paper, but, to circumvent potential logistical issues with that method in the current circumstances, I elected to try the allegedly "easier" online approach.

It is truly dreadful, by far the worst online form-filling experience I've ever had.

I have finally managed it.

It is no wonder that we have a Track and Trace that doesn't and a careers advice website that suggests that I should retrain as a Judge, a Cruise Ship Steward or a Boxer.

Last year I got a negative calculation which I knew had to be wrong. Apparently I had to know how much of my rental income I could offset, rather than it calculating it for me.

I find that a decent accountant is money well spent as I don't have to deal with all this nonsense. Life is full of crappy things as it is without HMRC delighting in making things worse.

What I find frustrating is that the only variables in my income are my salary if I get a payrise and any bonus I get so what can't we have a system whereby you just have to update what the changes are.

Also I'm on PAYE but still have to fill a form in every year but my peer group colleagues don't???

As it stands, as a pensioner, I'm paying more tax than Donald Trump !!

So who am I to complain .. ? (Think the sound of grinding teeth and the smooth oily click of an AR15 being cocked.)

That's it! I've put the heating on.

I have mine on all year. If it gets cold it fires up, if it's not it doesn't. Never understood the point of being cold. It's the temperature outside that matters not the month of the year!! And before any one asks, my gas bill for heating and water is thirty seven quid a month! Cheap I'd say!

Ha, our useless pointless MP is on Twitter. Judging by the replies she both unpopular but has apathetic constituents. Voted to lower food standards this week. Be proud Conservative voters! Feel free to pay her a visit! @theodoraclarke

I'm still awaiting a response to an email I sent my MP in May. He's too busy worrying about the coastal fishing we have in this county.

Good God no! I wait till there's ice on the inside of the windows. Even then I tell him put another jumper and extra pair of socks on.
Shocking! :xd::xd::xd:

I got wet on my walk from work to the car park, then wetter putting the shopping in the car.... even wetter taking the shopping from the car to the house, then soaked putting the bins out.... I just couldn't warm up, so the heating was put on for an hour.

Toasty toes now, but I've steamed the house up cooking tea, so I've had to open the windows & let all my toasty warmth out.... :ohno:

Ours isn't that sophisticated, we still have a old back boiler, so our heating and water can only be set to 'on' or 'off', we can set it to come on once a day, or twice a day, but its not temperature controlled. :ohno:
