Did something different at work today, it was a late night, but very easy..... Wondering if I want to keep getting up at 5.30am & putting up with lots of stress when I could be stress free but a very late night......
Was it as bad as you thought tho? And will they change your shifts to the later one?

Is that postman in you
Not really as I've thought that all my life, although being a postman for ten years really did suit me.
In a previous job I often had meetings in London and I'd get the first train from Stafford and have breakfast in one of the four Smithfield Market pubs that were open from 5am to 9am for that purpose before walking across to Waterloo for 10am. Two of those pubs have closed and the other two aren't what they were.
Borough Market is probably the best now and with spending a night in London in early March I was up at 5.30am for the Market Porter at 6.30am and then it was morning prayers in St Pauls Cathedral and breakfast where I was staying before the Wheatsheaf, also in Stoney Street, at 9am. All too many people nowadays waste the early morning which is such a shame especially if away on a short break.

As we are/were talking about sleep I'll say last night was not a great night and for once it wasn't the husbands fault. I had the starts of a migraine so took one of my serious painkillers. Unfortunately instead of making me sleepy, they always give me insomnia. I'm waking up constantly and they often give me anxiety and last night they did. All that is the lesser of 2 evils though. I'd rather a horrible night than the pain of my migraines.

I am released into a very restricted area of the community today.

I started the car for the first time in a fortnight last night, in preparation for a food shopping excursion this evening.

I have remembered not to have a brandy with my porridge this morning.

Are you going to be wintering in the chalet or might you be allowed into the big house on colder nights?

I will spend the nights in the house now - after evenings of DVD events in the Chalet.

I've just finished Series One of The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin last night.

I'll mull on that for a bit before I attempt Series Two.

I have been into the outside world for the first time in fourteen days.

It's mostly as it was, but there have been some changes.

There has been a minor rearrangement in my preferred Lidl.

More interestingly, perhaps, part of the journey is a mile of 'bog road', which has for many years had some quite significant "ski-jumps" along it. These have all gone in the last couple of months - not through maintenance, as far as I can see, but because of some minor localised geological shifts. It's just levelled itself out since I last drove along in at the end of July.

Used to know lots of fen roads like that, gently undulating in a way that could cause sea-sickness in passengers in a car travelling at a wrong speed. Wonder if they've straightened themselves out?
